It is with a mixed feeling for me to break the news that today is the last day for Leia Sutton-Barnes with HeCares. On one hand, we are very sad to see her leav...e. On the other hand, We are very happy to see her continue to pursue her dreams in Puerto Rico. We are so grateful that we had the opportunity to team up to provide the best care to those in need. Her excellent care and inspiring spirit will be missed by every team member and many patients she has treated. No doubt that Leia is irreplaceable! However, we'd like to accept associates who are willing to emulate and grow with HeCares. Send your applications now! Those who are recommended by Leia deserve priority.
Could this be a model of future medical practice?
It's official now...
This week HeCares is testing Team members and some patients at high risks and actively seeing us since the pandemic. So far EVERYONE got only ONE line (C) which... meant the test were valid. However, emotionally we don't know how to interpret our results: negative or positive! Honestly, shall we draw a conclusion that coronavirus truly DOES fear ONE thing-acupuncture needles? See more
So Far Away... If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together! Thanks to Leia Sutton-Barnes, L. Ac. for being part of HeCares Team! We ca...n't say No to a 74 yr old patient with so much pain. We are here when you need us the most! FY: I'll be in Santa Cruz clinic 1-4 pm on Thursday April 30. See you then!
A False Alarm! A college student called our office and begged for an appointment with me because she has been coughing for five weeks! My associate Dr. David Di...ck immediately assured the patient that we’d book her the same day and offer her face mask during the session. As she did not have a fever, she’d rather come the following morning. I was very excited the night before her appointment: this could be the very first COVID-19 patient I would see. Finally I could use a N95 respirator attending a patient of high risk! After checking her temperature and listening to her lungs, I realized nothing seemed to be relevant to COVID-19. Then I told her that she probably was suffering from a seasonal allergy which would respond well to acupuncture and Chinese herbs. Hearing her symptoms were not caused by COVID-19, she immediately felt much relieved. While putting needles in, I asked her why she chose to call our office instead of her family doctor’s. She immediately grew upset as she did call her family doctor first. However, she was only offered a telehealth consultation which she declined. Since this incident, she was very disappointed with her family doctor. It did not take long for her to have realized that the treatment was quite amazing, because NOT even once did she cough during her acupuncture session. As she felt the visit was so pleasant that she even asked for help with a couple of pimples on her forehead and a few blisters on her hand caused by oil burn while learning how to cook her own meals. At the end of her visit, she told me that she is a junior in college and has been studying to become a health coach for inpatients. However, she developed a kind of phobia of seeing patients since the outbreak of coronavirus. Being abandoned by her family doctor, she became even more disappointed with the current healthcare system. While I was labeling her herbs, she asked me why I was not afraid of seeing patients during the pandemic. Without any hesitation, I pulled out a quote from George Eliot: What do we live for, if it is not to make life less difficult for each other?
Trending now... Thanks to Dr. Brie Wieselman for referring your friend who had to rush to my Sunnyvale clinic last week due to a recent bike accident. She was s...een at 11:00 am and xrays were done at 12:30 pm. After reading her CD I immediately confirmed there was a displaced olecranon fracture and made appropriate referrals accordingly. Moreover, I'd like to thank https://www.sunnyvaleimaging.com/ for always being there to support our Hurgent Care! l'll be in Santa Cruz clinic 1-4 pm this Thursday, April 16. Anyone who wants to see me please call ASAP so that you don't have to drive to Sunnyvale or Los Gatos for an appointment. Stay healthy and safe. Virus Can't Beat US!
