While we are sad we weren’t able to host our live performance recital this fall, we are so eternally grateful for technology. O IT I ! We did make the decision to move it up a month, to have it completed before everyone goes back to school in the next couple of weeks. With all the uncertainty, we feel it would be best not to add anything extra to their plates. We thank everyone again for their flexibility! ... We are sad to have to host it virtually, as we cherish these recitals and all the talented live performances, but also so thankful that we have another option. The recital will be held at 1:00, but we will be opening the meeting up 10-15 minutes early. We recommend logging in earlier than 1, to ensure Zoom doesn’t need to be updated and that the audio and video features are working properly. We also recommend hosting your own Zoom meeting the day or morning prior. You will want to test the placement of the device that will be streaming them, for a sound check. Generally, the best placement would be centered behind the performer. Please do not place your device on the piano or keyboard. You will need to determine the proper distance from the piano and the necessary volume adjustment on the keyboard. We don’t want the sound to be too quiet to hear, but we also don’t the sound to be too loud, as the microphone on the device will clip the sound and cut out. ! We had an absolutely incredible couple of adventurous and relaxing weeks away, but we are back and ready to get this upcoming Saturday’s recital going! ... It is important that we meet with every student this week to go over last minute song preparations. If you are unable to make a lesson, please contact Miss Kacia to reschedule to a more convenient time. We are also offering free Friday lessons for any student that wants one more lesson (in addition to their usual lesson this week), before the recital. We know moving a recital up a month can be tough, but we are making all necessary adjustments, with each student individually, to ensure everyone is confident, comfortable, and ready to go! Performance workshops are a great way to get extra performance practice and audience etiquette practice in, in a more relaxed and casual environment. With our inability to host any in-person workshops or recitals, we will be increasing the number of Zoom workshops we host to every other month. . .
