Hey folks, my friend is organizing a peaceful protest this Wednesday at Lake Merritt in Oakland. Please come THIS WEDNESDAY at 6PM! Repost @tinypistol : Come and honor all the black life / joy / future / past that’s been stolen / murdered / decimated by systemic white supremacy. We will lie facedown for eight minutes +46 seconds for George Floyd and the legion of others, lest we forget.

Did you know that the Black Panthers started the first free community-acupuncture clinics in the US in 1972? In fact, the now famous auricular NADA protocol was first introduced in the US in their community health programs. The less-known but enduring legacy of the Black Panther movement is their many social programs, including access to free healthcare.... The acupuncture portion of the video starts at 5:39 min.

How to protect your lungs from wildfire smoke: 1) Folks, you really need to be wearing a mask and limit outdoor exposure. N95 or N100 Masks are good start when fitted properly as they filter most of the toxic particulates in the air. If you want to step it up even further, you can buy a respirator mask which filters out particulates and gases. 2)You can go to sites like air now.gov to check the air quality in your area for the day. 3) Did you know that acupuncture can als...o help support your lungs by circulating lung qi and expelling toxins? 4) Eat healthy foods like dark leafy greens to cleanse the blood and pears and persimmons to moisten the lungs. Ginger, garlic, turnips and radishes are also helpful. Avoid sugar, fried and processed foods. 4) Make yourself a pot of tea. Peppermint helps to open the sinuses and lungs. Marshmallow root, Mullen, nettle and licorice are also great herbs to make into a tea, especially if you have a cough. 5) Take extra vitamin C and consider glutathione which helps the liver to process toxins. 6) Herbs: There are many herbal formulas that can help to support you individually and what you’re experiencing. Ask your licensed acupuncturist naturopath or herbalist about what herbs might be right for you. There are some great Chinese medicine herbs for lung dryness, wheezing and respiratory infection. I also like Reishi and Cordyceps to support the Lungs. One of my favorite immune boosting formulas is made by Fungi Perfecti and it’s called My community:host defense. 7) do a steam with thyme or eucalyptus oil. Take a bath with Epsom salts and add some lavender oil to calm your nervous system. Be kind to yourself and others. Let yourself grieve any loss or traumas. According to traditional Chinese medicine, the emotion associated with the Lungs Is grief. It’s important that we let ourselves feel the grief. Give yourself the time and space to do this. Meditation can also be helpful to calm the mind and return you to your self. #WildfireSmoke #Lungherbs #Lungs #Chinese medicine #Acupuncture #Self-care #breath #oaklandacupuncture #sonomacounty #petalumaacupuncture See more

Green beans at the farmer’s market! I love sautéing garlic and chili flakes with green beans and olive oil. They are also wonderful in a stirfry. According to the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, green beans are warming and have a sweet taste. In addition to cleansing the liver, they can be used to help alleviate fullness in the chest, burping, cough, hernia, chronic diarrhea and back pain due to kidney weakness. #greenbeans #farmersmarket #chinesemedicine #wholefoods #acupuncture #ilovecooking

Whole 30 day 11. Daily meals. Self-care for me includes making sure I have lots of yummy food prepared for a long day a work: Radish, watermelon salad with Roasted Harissa Chicken, Salmon and veggie hash, Ribeye steak with sauteed chard and sweet potato. Cooking is a meditation and creative outlet for me. What is your self-care routine this week?
