The New Land single from #redtemplespirits was released on #independentprojectrecords in 1989 as a numbered #letterpress edition of 1200 copies. The band gave g...raphic designer #brucelicher a black & white photocopy of a Tibetan mandala they found in a book to use on the cover, which he then turned into a 4-color work of #letterpressart through hand-cutting additional photocopies and #rubylith to create four separate layouts from which magnesium photoengraving plates were made. An additional 5th run of orange flames was run from a carved linoleum block. These same 4-color printing plates were again used to create the oversized CD package for the 2013 release of the self-titled 3 CD set combining their first two albums with bonus tracks and a bonus CDep reproducing their first demo recordings. While the 7 single is long out of print, IPR still has copies of the 3-CD set for sale in the Independent Project Records Bandcamp store, along with signed and numbered #letterpressartprints of the cover. www.independentprojectrecords.bandcamp.com

Close to 18 years ago Scenic performed three shows in Arizona after the release of their third album #theacidgospelexperience on Hidden Agenda Records. Starting... off with an outdoor performance during the opening reception for the SouthwestNET: Architecture and Design exhibit which included a display of work by #brucelicher and #independentprojectpress then moved on to a special extended set at #modifiedarts in Phoenix the following night. The third performance was at Future Studios in #sedona where these live photos were taken. Drumming for instrumental alchemists Scenic during these shows was by Kimber Lanning, who most may know from her work in #independentprojectrecords group #halfstring and Keith Kassner was added as a sixth member on percussion and vibes.
