3D Mammography is the state of the art mammogram technology that improves our ability to detect breast cancers. It has some distinct advantages over conventional 2D mammograms, most notably is its ability to create a 3D or volumetric image of the breast. If a 2D mammogram is like looking at the floor plan of a home, then a 3D mammogram allows you to open the doors and look inside, affording a more detailed evaluation. Dr. Jason McKellop

Celebrating Women in Radiology History. Elizabeth Fleischman is continually remembered as one of the first women pioneers in radiology. Dedicating her life to radiology, in 1897 Fleischmann opened California's very first X-ray laboratory, making her the first radiographer in the state. Also providing radiology services to the US Army, she was praised for her talented skills and complimented in many medical and scientific journals. She paved the way for many women after her in the medical field. Thank you for your contribution to radiology.
