Laura Takeshita, IFPTE Local 21 Oakland Vice President-elect, later told this publication that the union hasn't received a good explanation about the City's apparent resistance to using the fund. ‘A global pandemic is exactly the type of situation these funds were set aside for. We believe it’s a commonsense stopgap measure that maintains services and preserves jobs while Congress works things out.’
You have the right to know if someone in your worksite recently tested positive for COVID-19 with #AB685! Contact your union representative if you think your employer is not complying, or if you have any questions.
Congrats to Connie Chan for District 1 Supervisor, a former Local 21 member! We organized to win and every vote made the difference. This is a victory for working people throughout San Francisco!
It's time for real universal healthcare in California.
Happy Hanukkah to those celebrating the first night of Hanukkah!
On November 7th, we stood up for democracy, and rallied for the continued struggle ahead. Five Bay Area labor councils gathered at Harry Bridges Plaza in San Fr...ancisco to demand that every vote is counted in the 2020 Presidential election. We marched to Macy's at Union Square to join the Stationary Engineers Local 39 picket line. See more
"Every day that I go to work I know that my union members have my back, I know that we are creating a better world and we have done that across this country this week. The work is not over. We need to keep fighting. We need to keep organizing." Honey Mahogany, IFPTE Local 21 member #DefendDemocracy

Today we celebrate the election of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. So much has been at stake, and their leadership in the White House will restore faith in our dem...ocratic institutions, and help lift us from the toll of Covid-19 on our hardest hit communities and so many who are struggling economically. At today’s rally, San Francisco Labor Council and its partners brought together the labor and social justice groups that are the bedrock of our working communities: including SEIU Local 1021, United Educators of San Francisco, UNITE HERE Local 2, IFPTE Local 21, Chinese Progressive Association, Jobs with Justice San Francisco, Housing Rights Committee of San Francisco, AFT 2121, and CFT - California Federation of Teachers. We have much to rebuild, and the path is much clearer ahead for our collective work. See more

Don’t let them divide us. Every single state needs federal relief.
Join us TODAY to protect the results and build the movement for what working people need regardless of who sits in the White House.
Join Local 21 and unions across the Bay Area for a rally at Harry Bridges Plaza TOMORROW at noon: Count Every Vote: Rally to Defend Democracy.
When Trump says he wants all the voting to stop, he is shamefully trying to throw away ballots. Rally with us today in San Francisco at 3PM and Oakland at 12PM, to demand that every vote is counted!
