Outdoor Family Fellowship. We played an interesting game (mixing 4 sounds in a mix). It's interesting that out of the same "music" file, some people can identify different songs based on the music characteristics that are very familiar with them. This is very similar to our situation now with so many buzzing or noises that goes through our mind: News update that we read, pressure from work, relational issues at home. But I'm sure that despite of all the noises, for us Christi...ans, we have 1 true voice that we should follow (that's the word of God). If you are not familiar, God's voice is all about affirming your son-ship, your status in Christian's family, the guarantee of salvation, your sealed future, etc. What it requires of us is to simply focus our attention to that unique message characteristics that Christ has for you. And for those of us who doesn't know what those messages are, we can start by reading those promises in the bible. Similarly, as parents of young kids in the technology-influenced generation, the worldly noise is getting louder and louder. We, as parents, need to nurture our children to find their true voice as well. And I can tell you that it's not getting any easier with so much noise / information readily available through entertainment and materials that they consume daily. My encouragement to you (if you are still struggling with this): 1. Don't tell your kids about Jesus, let them experience Jesus. Reference: Exodus story (experience that Israel had vs. Moses had). How to let your children experience Christianity: teach them not to live blamelessly but live in holiness (separate/unique). Show them that Christian parents are also full of weaknesses / imperfections, but they are made whole only by Christ. 2. How our kids experience Jesus will be very unique and may not be the same as the way we experience Christ. As in the bible, there are many characters who experience God in very unique way (David, Samuel, Paul, Peter, etc). It's therefore important that we help our children find their unique experience with Christ. Once they recognize the "unique" voice of Christ in the their life, they should be able to differentiate noises from the truth, and I pray that eventually our children will build their own legacy of following Christ.
