Some of our middle school students took a trip to check out the work of Mars Perseverance, let by Ms. Simon. Some of our students remained earth-bound at JPL to assist the mission on the ground. Great work ICS Panthers!!!
Ash Wednesday was different this morning, like everything else this year, but it was beautiful to celebrate in person or streaming on Facebook Live. Before Lent is over, it's possible some more grades may join our Preschool and TK back on campus. We're all doing our best to stop the spread and get our kiddos back to learning in person. Until that happens, our teachers, students, and families are proving that the "Covid Slide" is not something that will happen to ICS Panthers! ~Blessings on your Lenten journey from the ICS Community.
Our preschoolers might not know that sensory play: builds nerve connections in the brain, encourages the development of motor skills, supports language development, and encourages 'scientific thinking' and problem solving - but they know it's fun!
Today is the mid point of Catholic Schools Week! Today we are celebrating how catholic schools make our nation stronger- even for people who don't attend catholic schools!!! Did you know that having a catholic school in a neighborhood makes the economy better and even raises the test scores at the public schools? We are honored to be a part of the Downtown LA Community and we are proud of the difference ICS makes in our lives, our community, and in our society! #CSW
Celebrating Our Community on day 2 of National Catholic Schools Week (CSW). Thank you to each grade for writing a beautiful prayer, thank you to the readers from each grade for sharing your prayer with us all on Zoom this morning, and thank you to the amazing artists who made such lovely representations of our school. This year's CSW theme is "Faith.Excellence.Service" and our students exemplify the best in catholic education!!!!
It was a stormy night at ICS but the morning is beautifully icy!
Robert Garcia, a local hero and former student of Immaculate Conception School, passed away earlier this week. His story is an inspiration to all Angelinos, but especially to the youth of ICS. He dedicated his life to creating open spaces and parks for communities of color in urban, "park poor" areas. We are honored that an ICS Panther lived a life dedicated to God's creation. We aspire to celebrate his accomplishments by continuing his legacy of environmental justice. Thank you to his sister Lucrecia for sending us this beautiful tribute to "A Giant in a Forest of Green:" https://www.kcet.org//a-giant-in-a-forest-of-green-robert-#
It's a great day to start school in Downtown L.A.! We have some preschool and tk students in person (and some who join their friends from home online). All our kindergarten through 8th graders are learning from home, but this is for them too! We are all in this together, whether from home or here at school. Blessings on our new year. #dtla #lacatholics
We are sp excited to finally be back: in-person or online options in Preschool and TK; distance learning K-8. Let's have a great year, Panther Family!
Our TK staff wanted to our littlest grads- the rising kindergarteners- to feel special! They are visiting each student at home with personalized messages and treats for each child. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful crew in our Early Ed Program! @ Immaculate Conception School
We're so proud of you, ICS-LA Grads!
We didn't post this live, but better late than never. Congratulations 2020 Panthers!
Distance learning didn’t stop us from celebrating a classmates birthday. Popsicle party.
We had a great time today during science class.
Today we had a great time learning about picnics and making sandwiches. Then lunch time together.
We hope everyone is having a great day.
Our early education team ensuring that our preschool and TK students keep learning socio- emotional and academic skills every day! ICS loves its littlest Panthers!
Our little ones are really getting the hang of distance-learning.
A kindergarten student talking to his teacher during an online lesson. COVID-19 can't stop our Panthers from learning or our teachers from teaching!
The school building might be closed, but every class is doing distance learning. The faculty is meeting every morning, and even doing our weekly faculty collaboration to improve student (distance) learning!
Kindergarten is getting their hands dirty today.
