CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST - CHRISTIAN CONCEPTS FOR GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT. Prayer & Bible Band Topics - Spring Quarter April 2021 Lesson 5: THE RAPTURE Introduction: The Rapture is an eschatological [a branch of theology concerned with the final events in the history of the world and humankind] concept of an event that says that Christian believers who are alive, along with the resurrected believers, will rise "in the clouds, to meet Jesus Christ in the air. The Rapture is ...believed to precede the seven-year Tribulation. This sharing is for your reading and study. I will give very few comments.

PRAYER & BIBLE BAND TOPICS CHRISTIAN CONCEPTS OF GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT "Keeping Life's Covenants." Summer Quarter: Final Lesson... Tuesday, September 1, 2020. Scripture Reading: Malachi 1:6-9, 2:10,13-16. Also: C Psalm 34:11-16. [Your comments on lesson are welcomed]. INTRODUCTION: Today's final Summer Quarter Lesson is about people shamefully breaking their covenants. Malachi starts his discussion with a series of questions: 1). Do we have one father? 2). Has one God created us? 3). Why are we so treacherous and disrespectful against one another? 4). Do we not know that we are profaning the covenant of our heavenly Father? Certainly these [and other similiar] are questions we should ask ourselves today. Let's examine Malachi 's message to the people of Judah.

FOUNDING PASTOR JAMES DAVIS EDUCATIONAL MEMORIAL LIBRARY (J.D.M.E.L.) Praise and Worship, C.O.G.I.C. Virtual Post Of: POWER OF LIVING, ... Sunday School lesson 13 "Two Kinds Of Wisdom" August 30, 2020 INTRODUCTIONS: James points us to wisdom as the right use of knowledge. He believes this stems from which good works flower, and the root of that plant is the Holy Spirit. This is a plant that merits daily watering through immersion in the Word and prayer, as we seek the Lord for daily wisdom. This imagery is a direct learning reference that can help us today. This lesson invites us to put our conversation about our service work to the test. We begin by self answering! Are we seeking and encouraging the wisdom from above or so-called wisdom from below? Are our conversations pure? Do they flow with mercy? Do they yield good fruit? Or do they yield bitterness and anxiety? Asking these questions of ourselves can guide us as we seek wisdom from above, and the santification that only the Holy Spirit can truly offer. Today's lesson gives us an inside glance at how James focuses on two aspects -- choosing wisdom from above and enduring with patience.

PRAYER & BIBLE BAND TOPICS CHRISTIAN CONCEPTS OF GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT "After The Babylonian Captivity, God Offered Return And Restoration."... Summer Quarter: Lesson 13 Tuesday, August 25, 2020. Scripture Reading: Ezra 1:1-7; Also: C Jeremiah 29:10; Isaish 45:1; Psalm 76:10. [Comments on lesson are welcomed]. INTRODUCTION: Have you ever been away from home for a long time? If so, one can imagine the excitement among the exiled Israelites. They had been away from their beloved home for a long time. God had a great love for them even when they sinned. Just like today, God is merciful. His number one goal is to restore His people to Himself. Let's learn from Ezra, how King Cyrus carries out the prophesy of Jeremiah.

FOUNDING PASTOR JAMES DAVIS EDUCATIONAL MEMORIAL LIBRARY (J.D.M.E.L.). Praise And Worship, C.O.G.I.C. Virtual Post Of: POWER OF LIVING,... Sunday School Lesson 12 "Taming The Tongue" August 23, 2020 [C Comments to enhance understanding of the lesson]. INTRODUCTION: Today's lesson discusses how our speech has the power to do remarkable things for others. Unfortunately our speech can also tear others down. There have been some great speeches in american history that served as transforming whole societies, changing people's hearts, and started leading us to effective and sustained action. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have A Dream" speech helped to begin the process of granting some equal protection and rights under the law for African Americans. Sojourner Truth's "Ain't I A Woman" speech empowered the United States to think about women of color as being unduly discriminated against. Nelson Mandela's "I Am the First Accused" sought to dismantle Apartheid in South Africa. These are just a few example of speeches that have carried great weight in changing nations and societies throughtout history. God has commanded us to keep a rein on our tongues so that our speech glorifies Him and builds up our brothers and sisters. Too often, many of us have not always kept a rein on our speech. Let's learn from James, Jesus brother, how to allow the Holy Spirit to help us use our words to bless instead of hurt others and how to bring honor to our God.

PRAYER & BIBLE BAND TOPICS CHRISTIAN CONCEPTS OF GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT "The People Were Expelled" (Exiled). Summer Quarter: Lesson 12... Tuesday, August 18, 2020 Scripture Reading: 2 Chronicles 36:15-21; Psalm 137:1-6. Also: C 2 Kings 22:16-17; Isaiah 39:1-8 for additional background of lesson. [Comments of lesson are welcomed]. INTRODUCTION: After we accept Jesus as our savior, we can sometimes drift away from Him. We may not be keeping up our daily time with Him, or we may allow circumstances to block our fellowship with Him. While we are sheltered-in-place let's not drift away or break down our "walls of faith" in our relationship with God. These times of pandemic must not interfere with our daily worship. In today's lesson we see that although God loves His people, He will not allow us to wallow in disobedience forever.

FOUNDING PASTOR JAMES DAVIS EDUCATIONAL MEMORIAL LIBRARY (J.D.M.E.L.). PRAISE AND WORSHIP, C.O.G.I.C. Virtual Post Of: POWER OF LIVING,... Sunday School Lesson 9 "Hearing And Doing The Word" Sunday, August 9, 2020. [C comments for lesson enhancements; all are welcome to make lesson comments]. INTRODUCTION: How is righteousnes accomplished? Let's peep in on James to see his answer. Often today we read and talk about doing good but we find it so difficult to help the most vulnerable in society. Can we behave in a way that honors Him and helps others? What does becoming more like Christ necessitate? Today's lesson will help us realize that the proof of wisdom is not just in what we say, but what we do. We can express compassion for those who are most vulnerable and we can desire to act on their behalf. It is wise for us to engage in ministries that demonstrates the relligion that James teaches.

PRAYER & BIBLE TOPICS CHRISTIAN CONCEPTS OF GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT. "God's Gift Of Wisdom To Solomon." Summer Quarter: Lesson 9,... July 28, 2020. Scripture Reading: (1 Kings 3:3-14). Also C (James 1:5; Ephesians 2:1,3). [Please make comments to enhance the lesson]. Introduction: What if we could have anything we ever wanted (C 1 Kings 3:3-5)? The ultimate answer for most people would be to have wealth i.e., believing that money is everything one needs in this life. Not for a godly, young King Solomon! His reqested wisdom (1 Kings 3:6-9). God was so pleased with King Solomon answer, He gave him wisdom and everything elso. Why? God saw in him a heart that wanted to follow him (1 Kings 3:10-14). "What a wonderful answer from God!" Wisdom from God can be given to all of us if we become seeker of it. Without God's daily leading in our lives, we are bound to drift. Let's learn to ask God for a discerning spirit in this Christian walk. He is willing and able to answer that sincere request.
