Here is another excerpt from Mindfulness Breaks: The Zen Teachings of Father Eli. This one is about the magic of unconditional love. You can see a great example of the if you watch the recent movie, Breathe, starring Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy (The Crown). It is a lovely movie and it shows us what is possible if we allow unconditional love to come into our lives and the lives of the people we love.

When I began to read over my notes for the first time from the time I trained with Father Eli in 1972-1974, I came to realize his teachings resonated with what I have been learning from Buddhism in general and Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh in particular since 1983. Father Eli trained with D. T. Suzuki after World War II in Japan and was ordained as a Zen Master.

When I watched this video, I had trouble identifying all the characters, and I was moved by the intensity of their appearance, even when I did not recognize them. We have forgotten how much these people contributed to our lives today with the example of their lives and the work that they did. Some of them are continuing to make a strong impact on the light in the dark.
