2020 was a year that curtailed many activities and travel plans for everyone. When a child has cancer that is EVERYDAY life during the ups and downs of treatment and low blood counts. Harman is a wonderful, intelligent young man - age 15 - who has been battling neuroblastoma since he was 4 years old. He has been through so much with the many symptoms, treatments and side effects over the years and still has an amazingly positive attitude and presence. It was such an honor to meet him and finally be able to award his very deserving Grant of a new PS5! Also loved meeting his Mother and darling little sister! Keep fighting Harman! You are a true inspiration!

HHIF recently awarded a grant to this amazing 14 year old, Carlos, who is battling Ewing’s Sarcoma. It was an honor to meet this brave young man (socially distanced, of course)! We spoke about his career goals, how he’ll give back to his community, and ways to help others fighting cancer. He has such a bright future ahead of him and an outstanding outlook on life. Carlos is wise beyond his years! He asked for Beats by Dre headphones to listen to music during treatment and to communicate with his family while playing video games online. Can’t wait to hear about all the great things he will surely go on to accomplish! Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he continues his fight!

HHIF was on a mission this holiday season to grant a very special boy his wish! Rocky is a 14 year old who in March of this year was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia-another unexpected 2020 shock. Rocky has been battling bravely with time spent in the hospital with neutropenia and pancreatitis which are effects of chemotherapy treatment. We searched the globe and were able to obtain the coveted new PS5 for him! A new PlayStation will help bring some fun during the months of isolation and beyond! Rocky is a strong young man and is in our prayers as well as the whole family for continued strength through the remainder of his 2-3 year treatment. Fight like Rocky!

We are sharing this post from almost three years ago ...as our hearts are broken upon hearing the news that Dustin Letson was killed in a tragic motorcycle accident a day ago. Our deepest condolences to his wonderful family & friends. May God’s peace and healing surround you at this devastating time.

HHIF was so excited today to plan a SURPRISE visit to Katie and deliver a special Grant! Katie was diagnosed with breast cancer shortly after her honeymoon a year ago. She found the lump herself and knew something was not right. She has been a true warrior dealing with both chemo, radiation and surgery over the last 11 months with many trips to Stanford. Her strength and grace is such an inspiration! May 20th was her last radiation treatment-yay! This beautiful girl kicked cancers butt!! May God bless you & AJ on a long & happy life together!

HHIF was excited to finally track down this hot item to award a much deserved Grant to Monica! She has been through so much having been diagnosed in 2016 and then relapsed which warranted a stem cell transplant at City of Hope recently. She is doing well, is a great student and beautiful 18 year old senior. We hope she has lots of fun and enjoyment playing her New Horizons Nintendo Switch Animal Crossing limited edition! It came all the way from the UK!! Stay strong Monica! You are in our prayers

Being extra careful during this time is of great importance especially when you are dealing with cancer ...but HHIF was thrilled to award a Grant (from a DISTANCE - I actually didn’t even get out of the car!) to a very deserving young man....Jovani is 15 and was recently diagnosed with Osteosarcoma. He had this beautiful smile even after just spending 5 days at VCH for intense treatment...one of many. We were excited to be able to have shipped to him a new queen size bed/fram...e/headboard, comforter set, sheets & pillows along with a financial aid Grant for other necessities during treatment. Hopefully this will bring some comfort as faces this battle! Our thoughts and prayers go out to his mother Elizabeth as well and other family members that are affected in many ways. Jovani’s smile could light up the room and we wish him the best! Please keep him in your prayers as next month he will be traveling to San Jose for a surgery. See more

As we all deal with this COVID 19 crisis and adjust to a new schedule of shelter in place, social distancing, possible loss of employment and financial worries, our children now home full time and needing constant care, trying to continue their studies at home, missing so many important life events & activities and visits with loved ones and friends, no shopping or sports events, ....all with the constant FEAR of becoming ill with a life threatening illness....I can’t help ...but say that THIS is so similar to what children and families dealing with a cancer diagnosis live with EVERY DAY. THIS is EXACTLY what we dealt with as a family...but not for TWO WEEKS, try TWO YEARS. Life as we knew it basically came to a screeching halt and we were in social isolation except for trips to the hospital. Having to wear masks and gloves when blood counts were extremely low and being instructed to stay at home. PLUS feeling awful from rounds of chemo, radiation and countless needle pokes. When I hear all the complaints and inconveniences people are now talking about I remember all the brave and courageous children that have lived this already in a very similar way. Parents that had to leave their jobs to care for their child in treatment causing great financial & emotional stress. Insurance coverage worries. Many are self employed. No one really knows until it happens to your child or family member. But now the world knows how it feels. Perhaps there will be more compassion and understanding for those suffering already. To those battling EVERY DAY please know HHIF is praying for you and will do whatever we can to help. Our deepest sympathies go out to those around the world who have lost love ones to this deadly virus. We must continue to have HOPE and uplift each other in these difficult days~ See more

Two days before Christmas we delivered a financial aid Grant to a special boy named Jose. He is only 13 and was not expecting this past April to have his life change with a diagnosis of APML - a rare Leukemia. He has already undergone a stem cell transplant at Stanford and needs our prayers. The Grant we gave will help him with travel expenses to see family members and treatments. God bless you Jose!
