We are so excited to shine a spotlight on some of Hummingbird Music School's awesome student musicians! Today we're featuring Ethan, who began learning piano with us several years ago as an elementary school student. He's become a master of creating his own "mash-ups," built from popular and classical songs (the last one was Demi Lovato, Billie Eilish, and Lizzo, overlaid with a Classical Sonata) -- and he was just voted President of Central Middle School! Ethan describes... his time studying with Hummingbird: "I’m Ethan, I’m 13 years old, and I’ve been taking piano lessons with Hummingbird for 6 years! The Hummingbird Music School and its teachers have taught me so much, I think of Music as a language and most of us--including me--come in not knowing anything. But throughout my experience with the Music School’s amazing programs, I have been able to learn the language of Music and enjoy it. Music allows you to have a bigger appreciation of everything around you, allowing you to understand the radio or Spotify playlists you listen to, andgiving you a head start in band, orchestra, or other musical activities. Music is extremely valuable and I couldn’t think of a better place to learn it from. Hummingbird has offered a safe place to learn while allowing me to work at my own pace, they use great music books that have allowed me to fully understand the content and be able to play pieces such as the one above. With the Hummingbird recital I have been able to arrange and learn about music and perform it. Along with having a great time at my weekly lessons I learn about two pieces per week and learn something about the music theory and history of the pieces. I couldn’t recommend Hummingbird more, my 6 years with them have been a blast and I can’t wait for more." See more
