The book drive has been extended through March 15 - help us reach the 500 Books Goal! Thank you. Please consider helping the Eureka NAACP reach its book drive... goal of 500 books by the end of February by purchasing a book or a gift certificate at these bookstores: Blake's Books (McKinleyville), Northtown Books and Tin Can Mailman (Arcata), and Eureka Books and Booklegger (Eureka). The goal of the book drive is to provide students with the opportunity to read Black stories to enrich their lives. The drive is an investment in our future and our children by broadening access to diverse books that focus on Black voices and giving them a mirror into similar experiences, or a window into new ones, to promote diversity, empathy, equity, and equality. Since you can't come to the library to check out our shelves, let us bring our shelves to you! Here are some of our favorite pieces of fiction to help you get in the holiday mood (with links to each title in our catalog, so you can easily put it on hold to pick up via curbside service).
Pick up a free sock puppet kit from any branch of the library beginning Saturday, November 21, while supplies last. Kits are designed by Quack & Wabbit. Instructions are included, but the videos are even better, especially to learn how to glue the eyes in place. See the library’s Kids Create playlist (https://www.youtube.com/playlist...) for puppet-making tips, and, later, for more videos in the series learning how to move your puppet and joining a Quack & Wabbit puppet show! After you make your puppet, you might like to share it with #HumCoLibrary #KidsCreate Kids Create program funded by the County of Humboldt.
Sing, dance, and play with your family! Pick up a FREE copy of the 'Growing Up Humboldt' CD featuring local musicians and published by First 5 Humboldt. Enjoy ...traditional songs and original compositions, all fun for singing together. Provided by the Humboldt Literacy Project to support literacy and family fun. Available at any library branch during curbside pickup hours, while supplies last. See more
The Library’s website will be down for scheduled routine maintenance on Monday, July 13th; we anticipate that full access will be restored by Tuesday, July 14th, if not earlier. Thanks and sorry for any inconvenience!
