March 18th is known in Turkey as Çanakkale Victory and Martyr’s Day. This year is the 106th anniversary of Turkey’s victory over the Allied battleships who tried to take control of the Dardanelles. The poignant day marks the cataclysmic, months-long violence of the Gallipoli Campaign, when Ottoman forces suffered huge losses defending Turkish shores in the northern Canakkale province from the invading Allies in 1915. This day was a critical turning point in building the Republic of Turkey and every year we stop to remember the incredible fearlessness and commitment of those soldiers who fought for Turkey’s freedom. So today, on the March 18 we respectfully remember the courage shown by these men back in 1915, and their sacrifice for Turkey as a nation.

As @NASAPersevere explores the surface of Mars, scientists hunting for signs of ancient life on the distant planet are using data gathered on a mission much closer to home - at a lake in southwest Turkey. .@NASA says the minerals and rock deposits at Salda are the nearest match on earth to those around the Jezero Crater where the spacecraft landed and which is believed to have once been flooded with water Information gathered from Lake Salda may help the scientists as they s...earch for fossilized traces of microbial life preserved in sediment thought to have been deposited around the delta and the long-vanished lake it once fed. A team of American and Turkish planetary scientists carried out research in 2019 on the shorelines of the lake, known as Turkey’s Maldives because of its azure water and white shores. Scientists believe the sediments around the lake eroded from large mounds that are formed with the help of microbes and are known as microbialites. The team behind the Perseverance rover wants to find out whether there are microbialites in Jezero Crater via Reuters Science News. #turkey #lakesalda #saldagolu #nasa #houseofturkey #balboapark #sandiego #california https://www.instagram.com/tv/CMNjf7bloA7/

International Women’s Day is celebrated every year as a chance to herald the impact that women make around the world. International Women’s Day is celebrated every year on March 8. The day was first celebrated in 1911 in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland, according to the BBC. The lineage of the celebration can be traced back to 1908, when 15,000 female workers marched in New York City as they sought more humane working hours, better pay and the right to vote. The Soc...ialist Party of America would go on to declare the first National Woman's Day in 1909. IIn 1910, women’s rights activist Clara Zetkin proposed making the event worldwide at an International Conference of Working Women in Copenhagen. In 1975, the United Nations formally recognized and celebrated the event for the first time. According to the official website, IWD is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. While the day is meant to honor the progress and achievements of women all over the world, it is also a vehicle to raise awareness and encourage accelerated gender parity and fundraise for female-focused charities. The colors of IWD are purple, green and white, the official site explains. Purple symbolizes justice and dignity, while green represents hope and white represents purity (the latter is considered controversial by some). These three colors originated from the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU) in the UK in 1908. International Women’s Day is ascribed a different theme each year. In 2021, the campaign theme for the celebration is Choose to Challenge. As the IWD site explains, A challenged world is an alert world. And from challenge comes change. So let's all #ChooseToChallenge. Wishing happy ‘#internationalwomensday Deepest gratitude to all womens in the world. HOUSE OF TURKEY
