Just finished up an 8 5/8 Casing Spear for one of our good customers on the East Coast.
A good customer came to me with this heat treated bearig shaft . Said he was told you couldn't cut a keyway in a heat treated bearing shaft. Used a Accupro 4 flute solid carbide AlTin coated endmill and proceeded to cut a 48" long keyway the full length of the shaft .
Had to use our big horizontal press to remove this 120 mm x 12foot long extruder screw that had gotten galled and seized in the barrel. Took a little over 200 tons to get it to move. Zoom in on the first pic and you can see on the screw where it had seized in the barrel.
Here are a couple of pics, from my customers job site , showing the spreader bar we built over the weekend being used to install the casing
Setting up and line boring a large backstop for a shear. It had a pin come out on one side and badly damaged the bore . We set it up , welded and rebored to the hole to get it repaired for a fraction of the cost of having to replace the backstop.
Cody and I building a 20' spreader bar for a customer. Had to have it done over the weekend and ready for pickup at 6:am Monday. Good Day at work. This is the kind of service Host Machine can provide . We do our best to help customers minimize their downtime.
Setting up to line bore and repair the damaged head stock bearing areas of an American Pacemaker 32" swing lathe .
Here is an obsolete gearbox from the 60's that a customer brought to us to repair. It is essential to his company and cannot be readily replaced. He brought it to us with a broken/sheared input shaft , but upon disassembly we discovered a lot more damage. The bearings in this gearbox are no longer available and we had to source new ones and modify the gearbox housing to accept the new bearings.... The last few pictures show the reassembly and the finished gearbox. It was installed this weekend and the plant is back in service.
New employee Reid and Cody working on a bucket modification of the quick connect for a customer.
Had a rush job to modify this large piece for a pile driver. Was 16" dia. w/2" wall ,60" long.
Machining a large Alum billet for a hydropress.
We got this guide wheel in on Thursday afternoon. It's for a large asphalt kiln. The bearings had failed and the wheel had been eaten away stopping production. We had to disassemble the wheel, weld up the worn areas and repair the mounting shaft. I had to air freight in the bearings and we worked all weekend to rebuild the wheel and get it reassembled for installation in the plant on Monday morning.
Customer brought in a broken shaft off of a large press. Part is obsolete and unavailable. We reverse engineered it and made him a new shaft t get his machine up and running .
Well, after working Saturday to get that big gear box apart , this is the damage we found inside . 2 broken gears , one where a broken tooth went through it , several broken bearings and all the other bearings are worn out. Seeing what parts are available and tooling up to make the ones we cannot get.
