How to make a Pictish drinking horn. In 19th century San Diego, there was also a tradition of making drinking vessels out of cattle horns. Early tavern keepers would insert leather or wood into the horn so that the drinker would get a short pour, although it would appear that they were getting a larger amount. Given the choice between a traditional glass and a large cow horn, most drinkers chose the horn and were cheated. Sneaky, eh?
