Trick-or-treat, made with wheat, we have a new beer to drink! Happy Friday y’all, we have ANOTHER new beer for you this week. First, we want to announce that our Belgian Wit officially (finally) has a name: 8381 Wit. This name pays tribute to our homebrewing days the garage we brewed in was at a house numbered 8381, and the Belgian Wit was the first recipe we brought to HSBC! We thought it only proper to aptly name the Wit and give credit where credit is due; Playa del ...Rey, forever in our hearts. This beer is now back on tap at Myrtle, as well as to-go cans at both Myrtle and the brewery. Now, the new beer: 8381 Winter Wit. This is a seasoned adaptation of the 8381 Wit, spiced with Indonesian cinnamon, Madagascan vanilla bean, and a touch of lactose. The result begins with holiday aromatics, followed by a luscious, creamy mouthfeel; base flavors of clove and allspice are fortified by a healthy dose of real vanilla and cinnamon. You are left with a delicate warmth on the tongue and a lingering, spiced aftertaste. Today, October 14, is the day homebrewing was officially legalized in the United States (1978). Homebrewing is near and dear to our hearts; that initial adventure has led us to where we are today (I know, we can’t believe it either). One cannot help but gaze upon the Albatross White IPA without feeling a sense of good luck to follow, not unlike sailors when seeing the magnificent bird miles out to sea. Golden wheat in color, enhanced by it's unfiltered nature, the Albatross White IPA's mandarine aroma is accompanied by a subtle orange zest flavor; substantial mouth feel retreats towards a de...licate, crisp finish.
