July is our anniversary month. This July we will be stepping into our 8th year. We connect with those who support our mission, annually, and share about our projects. This year brings some challenges and we thought it’s best to reach you through this video. Throughout the pandemic, we kept in touch with our children in Dharavi. Dharavi, was perhaps, the first to recover from COVID. Dharavi was worst hit by floods during the monsoon storms. Poverty, pandemic and natural calamity, none of it was strong enough to drown their determination. Sharing some photos that were taken on Monday this week. STEM classes at the center are in full swing. Our children are busy doing what they do best, study and excel, none of which is possible without your donations. Thank you

For #AMPHAN SURVIVORS On Saturday, June 13th funds from HOPE IN LIFE FOUNDATION and SHURU KOLKATA were used in bringing food, female hygiene products, vitamins for pregnant women to SUNDERBAN TIGER RESERVE. This effort was made possible by Dr. Aniket Chatterji, Amitabha Sinha and Team. Thank you Hope in Life Foundation Executive Board for your personal donations for this project. Restricted education funds from our valued Los Angeles donors was NOT USED for delivering this project! EXCEPT- Thank you Dr. Pinaki & Manju Chakraborty for your donation! Words are incapable of describing the misery.. There were long queues standing in the water for hours for relief...including women and children,elderly people. About 6000 people were helped in the impacted region on June 13th.

Our Executive Board Member was at our Project Site in Dharavi, Mumbai on January 6th. This is our first visit in 2020 and the 3rd visit in the past 6 months. Thank you to those who are standing with us to keep children in STEM program after school. #STEMProgram #AfterSchoolProgram #DharaviDiaries

SHURU KOLKATA, INDIA, sister org of Hope in Life Foundation, is very active during the winter months, especially around Children’s Day (November 14). This year there was a request for warm clothes, Blankets and prescription medication from School for Blind, in Behala, Kolkata, VOICE OF WORLD. Our team in India visited the school on 2 separate days and fulfilled all their requests. Thank you to all our donors who made this possible!

Executive Board Members met today to go over finances and projects. We want to always be in a position to keep the children whose education we support, in schools!

Some of you may know, I personally visit the institutes and facilities where we direct our funds, every year. The story in pictures through this post, taken on July 4, 2019, is the first of a series of annual site visits to LOTUS PETAL FOUNDATION, since we support them. Being on site and gathering first hand information on operations, meeting Admin staff and the Founder, Mr. Kushal Raj Chakraborty was required and went well. Northern India heat was a non-deterrent. The enthusiasm of the children and their greeting me kept me on track. I guess their enthusiasm rubbed off on me. I must thank Sukhpreet for all the photos in this album. Thank you Saloni for the tour. Thank you Asha for all the arrangements. It was an informative and educational visit.

Our Board meets 4 times a year. Today we had 2019’s second Executive Board Meeting. We are open to having community members and supporters attend our meetings. It helps them learn about our operations while we learn about their interest in the organization. The next executive board meeting is scheduled in September! Coming up shortly is a field visit report. Stay tuned for updates in July.
