We're at it again! Continuing to learn about the equine digestive system.....today we are going to color and label the digestive system and then we'll learn just how much each part of the system holds. Do you know how many quarts the small intestine holds?
Good morning! On Thursday in Horse School, we continued our work with the human and equine digestive systems. This project was called "Horse Guts and Math" from Cornell University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Such a fun curriculum. We compared the equine and human digestive systems in a very simple way. It required the kids to measure, cut, put together and label pieces of yarn. There are 5 kids in the group and we are practicing how to work in a group setting, something kids are not getting alot of these days. It's hard for them! They are doing such a great job. I'm very proud of them. The pictures were hard to get, but I think you can get an idea..... We have 2 more weeks of this session of Horse School, if you are interested in the classes please PM me! Have a blessed, wet Friday!
Our Monday/Wednesday Horse School grouped learned about the digestive system.....today, we'll compare the human and equine systems and build models to demonstrate both!

We are so looking forward to seeing you at our event this Saturday! Unfortunately our lovely bakery vendor is no longer able to attend so we are putting out a call for anyone who would be interested in selling baked goods / delicious treats! If this sounds like you, please send us a message! It is a socially-distanced event following "COVID-safe" guidelines.
Sometimes, to get them grounded, ya gotta get their feet off the ground! This is Jackson teaching one of our teens the ropes! Thanks, Mike, for sharing your expertise and mentorship of this young man.
Good morning! The HHK herd has given us their Christmas list! If you are looking for a way to help out HHK, take a look at our Christmas Wish List!
Happy Sunday! If you are interested in attending this event, please contact us by Monday so we can make sure we have enough materials. Please RSVP to [email protected]. Thank you! We look forward to seeing you!
Good morning! This clinic is going to be postponed until January. We haven't had enough sign ups to make it work. We understand, it's a busy time of year! We will miss you!!
Happy Sunday! HHK just finished it's first 6-week series of Horse School, Trotting Teens, Pony Club and Free Rein Friday. We had SO much fun. The Horse School classes learned about the Pony Express, how to form a hypothesis, and family traits. We read, did a little math and played with the horses. The Trotting Teens group, led by Emily, learned about mindfulness, communication and connection. For our Pony Club group we worked on basic life and horsemanship skills while ...playing with the horses! And Free Rein Friday, well, just like it sounds - whatever came up when the kids arrived - sometimes art, sometimes horses and sometimes playing with the goats! All in all, a very successful first run of our new programs. These programs were designed to meet the needs of our community during these challenging times. The one-hour classes gave the kids an opportunity to get out and be in nature with animals and their peers. And, we did some academic learning as well. Next week the kids will get some riding time in. We will be starting up another 6-week series in a couple of weeks! See more
This is where HHK will be this Halloween! If you are interested in helping out give Kyle or Jenna a call!
Good morning! To meet the changing needs of our community, Hope, Horses & Kids has developed some new programs. One of the new programs is Trotting Teens. This will be a mostly student driven curriculum (they will discuss what they want to learn) with some amazing Equine Assisted Learning thrown in for good measure. Teens and younger kids are struggling right now with anxiety, fear, and the need to connect with others. This class will give them an opportunity to safely be with others and to enjoy the company of our gentle equines. The class meets Thursday afternoons from 3-4 PM. We only have 3 spots left! If you are interested, please email Lori at [email protected]
This organization was instrumental in saving hundreds of animals. I had the pleasure of meeting Justin at the Rodeo Grounds last week and he had such a calming effect on our team. The man knows his stuff; his words of wisdom have kept us going.
Dave Hillman will be at Indian Springs Equestrian Center on Saturday and Sunday, 8/15-16. We have ONE slot left Saturday at 2:30. For those who don't know Dav...e, he is a horse trainer that offers the horse the best deal. He's kind, quick, soft and patient. Horses LOVE him. And he's only here twice a year! Take advantage of this opportunity and give your horse and yourself a treat! See more
At Hope, Horses & Kids we strive to meet the ever changing needs of our community. For the past month we have been offering small camps (6 kids) every other we...ek. This was to meet the need of our kids who are showing signs of depression, anxiety and stress. Their parents have shared with us how much just being outside has helped. We are now going to be heading into fall - teachers and parents are worried. We want all of you to know that we support and pray for you. Please know that we are here for you. We are in the process of becoming vendorized by Ocean Grove Charter School and Compass Charter School. HHK will be offering curriculum that will include literature, art and horse math! We can even throw some science in there. If you are a retired teacher looking for a volunteer opportunity, please let us know. See more
Found this gem on TikTok. I felt like it needed to be shared! Notorious Cree
