Honor Flight Southland

Please join us on March 9 for the first-ever Honor Flight Network national web event. It's open to everyone in the Honor Flight Community veterans who have participated in an Honor Flight, veterans who hope to experience an Honor Flight, guardians, hub volunteers, airport volunteers, and everyone’s family members. This will be the first of several web events to bring our Honor Flight community together as we stay safe at home during COVID. Please note the participant will be asked to provide an email address to receive a secure link to the program. AARP will also send a follow up email confirmation notice to ensure the email account is associated with an actual person for security purposes. Happy 4th of July from Honor Flight Southland! We have been celebrating all week visiting veterans and letting them know we are thinking of them. Honor Flight Southland delivered a care package to a WWII #veteran today. Meet Mr. Billy Charles Slonecker, a B-17 Tailgunner who flew 31 missions over Germany. He was stationed in England during this time and actually volunteered to do more missions than what was required. After 25 missions the flight crews were allowed to go home if they wanted to. Mr. Slonecker chose to stay and fly additional missions. We will look forward to having him on our next flight in 2021! Glad to be able to #honor them in a small way and let them know we are thinking of them!!

The Honor Flight Southland Board is out today delivering bags of goodies to our #Veterans which we were not able to take on a trip in 2020. We want them to know we are thinking about them and look forward to the day we can honor them with a flight. Your seat is reserved!
