ANNOUNCEMENT We are coming to THE CITY OF ORANGE! We’re still in the thick of permits and construction has yet to begin but we are already excited about our new home! Our guests have asked for an Orange County location over the years and when I found this building it felt like fate. Originally built as a grain and feed store in 1905 (est) it still has the feeling of being in a small town. The corrugated metal rooftop and big patio make it feel like it’s just been wa...iting for us. If all goes well, we expect to open in August or September, later this year. Say hello to our NEW CHIPS! And our NEW LOADED QUESO + FRITO PIE Howdy HomeState Family! There about some exciting menu changes, starting today! Here’s a bit more detail from our founder, Briana Valdez. NEW TORTILLA CHIPS... A few months ago, I was at my in-laws’ house and they opened a bag of tortilla chips I’d never seen before. I took one bite and knew instantly that it was HomeState’s new chip. Chicas are made in LA by Irlanda Montes with the help of her husband and two daughters. They are made with non-GMO corn and fried in rice bran oil. I cannot wait for you to try themand I hope you love them as much as I do! FRITO PIE Our good friend (and San Antonio-native), Oscar Garza, recently stopped by the restaurant and ordered his usual the Frito Pie but substituted the brisket chili with picadillo. He gave me a bite and it transported me right back to my childhood, at the concession stand of the football game. It was, and still is, dang delicious. So, our Frito Pies now feature picadillo in place of brisket chili. Try one. You’ll see. LOADED QUESO Our retooling of the Frito Pie got us thinking more about picadillo in general. And though we all love our brisket, there’s something in the nostalgic appeal of an authentic Texas picadillo that I couldn’t get out of my head. We had a hunch it would take our loaded queso to the next level, and we were right none of us could stop ourselves from having thatonelastdip. I’m also excited to announce that we are introducing a vegetarian Loaded Queso with black beans instead of beef. Our vegetarian friends have been enjoying this menu hack for years, and encouraged us to make it official. As a (former) longtime vegetarian, I couldn’t agree more. *** Our picadillo is made fresh every day from grass-fed ground beef slow-cooked with potatoes, carrots, onions, and a blend of spices. We don’t make any of these changes lightly it’s a big deal for us! We appreciate you taking the time to read about them, and we’re excited to share them with you on your next visit. Introducing The Vegetarian Weekend by Vampire Weekend. A veggie fajita taco featuring shiitake mushrooms, red and yellow bell peppers, guacamole, cotija cheese, and fresh cilantro on an organic corn tortilla will be available starting tomorrow, Aug. 1st through the end of Oct.
