How cool is this art project!?! During an optional Home Ed. enrichment workshop, we created these mask art projects. With a piece of paper and after few folds, we created self-portraits with and without masks. As we pulled down the mask, we revealed our smiles and picked 3 positive adjectives to describe ourselves. Hello from Home Education! E.U.S.D.'s Home Ed. students are hard at work with their parents at home and have been doing an awesome job on their schoolwork during these first 5+ weeks. They receive their lesson plans from their Supervising Teacher, complete all lessons at home, and then "attend" conferences online to show all of their work virtually, before submitting samples. Here are a few photos of the recent Region Posters made by third graders as part of their Social Studies curriculum. They did a great job!

The E.U.S.D. Home Education Program families had the awesome opportunity to go to the San Diego Zoo for free a few weeks ago. The Zoo is so generous to home-schooling families. We had such a fun day viewing and learning about the beautiful animals there. Take a look at some of the highlight photos. The polar bears were extremely active that day! The chimpanzees and meerkats are always some of the most interesting to observe. Now you know why Home Ed. appreciates its annual San Diego Zoo field trip!

The November 14th school board meeting was Home Ed.'s night to "shine", thanks to 7th grader, Jason. It was our pleasure to honor Jason (and his parents) for their dedication to learning and achievement! Jason is an excellent student in all subject areas and is extremely polite and fun work with. What a wonderful, warm, and responsible family to celebrate! Thanks to Dr. Ibarra, along with Cabinet and E.U.S.D. Board of Education members, for taking the time to honor such special students and families.

It's almost time for the first day of school in the Escondido Union School District. That means the fun and learning are about to begin in the Home Education Program as well. We are currently enrolling new K-8 students in Home Ed. If you are interested in free, public home-schooling and would like to teach your child or children at home using the district-adopted curriculum with the support of a credentialed teacher, give Home Ed. a call at (760) 432-2221. We will tell you all about our meaningful, rigorous academic program plus all of our optional and fun enrichment activities and workshops.

Home Education Program students and families had a wonderful time at the Safari Park in Escondido this week. Here are photos of just some of the amazing animals we were able to see. The new kangaroo and wallaby exhibit is even hands-on! Also, notice the photo of the majestic eagle. We had to include that photo, of course, since we are the Home Education Program Eagles! It was a great day and a perfect way to close out 2018.

What a great afternoon we had today! Mr. Soucy and Mr. Mattox from E.U.S.D.'s Technology and Media Services Department visited Home Ed. to help us with our new district-issued iPads. The students and parents were reminded about digital citizenship and introduced to tons of awesome resources available to support and enhance their educational experience. We had fun and learned a lot. We are grateful for the iPads and the exciting ideas.

The E.U.S.D. Home Education Program has successfully concluded another awesome year with its amazing, hard-working K-8 families of North County. Congrats to the Home Ed. 8th graders, 5th graders, and Kinder students who were promoted at the special ceremony last Friday. Great job, everyone! Have a super fun, relaxing summer. We look forward to working with our fabulous Home Ed. families when we return to school in August.

Oh, how we loved our trip to the Roynon Museum of Earth Science & Paleontology today. We always learn so much there. Even the folks who have visited multiple times always learn and see something new. We are so fortunate to have such a valuable treasure like this museum right here in Escondido.

Today, we Home Education Program Eagles thoroughly enjoyed our field trip down to the Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Some of the highlights were the surprisingly soft sea cucumber, the colorful cuttlefish with the googly eyes, the gorgeous views, and, of course, the wonderful company. We hope you enjoy our little slideshow.

We in Home Ed. always look forward to "Make-a-Plate" Day! Our Home Ed. Eagles gather and create special artwork that will actually be printed on useable melamine plates. Our families love to have fun socializing together at these optional art workshops, and they also love their memorable keepsake plates. Aren't they terrific? (The plates and the people!)
