Here is Russlan's Judo demonstration video we made this past weekend.

Out side of Hollywood Judo Dojo this weekend filming a short video for one of our black belts Russlan. His job is having a charity holiday talent competition with the winner getting a prize for the organization of their choice. Let's hope we wowed them with our Judo so we can win for the dojo.

This past weekend we had a film production at Hollywood Judo Dojo. It's nice to see someone get some use out of the dojo.

To our Hollywood Dojo members. Our board members decided yesterday on a number of safety measures that will have to be in place for our reopening of the dojo. We are aiming to open July 6. However, if the virus is still spreading rapidly at that point, we will not be able to reopen. Stay in shape as much as you can at home, stay healthy and safe. To our Hollywood Dojo members : The pandemic is still very much ongoing. There's a lot of conflicting information in the media regarding contamination. The board of Hollywood Dojo will have a meeting this Saturday and will lay out safety guidelines for when we will be able to open again. No specific date set yet. I know that many of you want to get back to practice again. And I feel the same way, believe me. ... However there are larger issues at stake. We cannot afford to be reckless and to open too soon. The state basically goes by the number of infected cases per county. And L.A County so far has the highest number of corona cases. Opening up a gym is different from opening up a dojo. In a gym you can maintain social distance while working out. In judo, we have close combat. Hollywood Dojo has a responsibility to keep our members safe. Our board is closely watching the development over the next 2 weeks, and we will make the best decision possible as when it's reasonable to get back on the tatami. To all our Hollywood Dojo members: We hope that you and all our family members are healthy and doing well during this very difficult time. We are going through tough times but they will pass and as soon as government officials say that virus cases are in decline and we can open we will do so.... We will have to ease back into things with precautions. Our board has brain stormed and came up with a few ideas. Multiple shorter classes with time in between to clean the facilities. Limited class size, with respect to social distancing. Student sign up in advance for each practice to reserve a day and time. Another idea is not to change training partners, you will keep the same training partner during each practice. Fever testing and wearing masks will most likely be the norm for a while. When this will happen depends on the general guidelines for all sport practices within our state. We are unable to set a date at this time, since it is the virus itself that sets the schedule. Try to practice at home and stay in shape as much as you can. We sincerely hope to be back together and on the mat soon again. Sensei Philippe
