It's less than 2 weeks away - you don't want to miss this "rap" session. How do we effectively advocate for ourselves? Whether it's to a museum or a hospital or in a retail store - what are your stories and how did you/do you effectively communicate and advocate? We'll share our stories and advice with each other so come and join us with people like you who "get it"! We meet at the Sherman Oaks Library, 14245 Moorpark Street; socializing starts at 9:30am, with the meeting running from 10am-noon. Coffee, juice, and water provided. Due to the great response from our February interactive panel, we will be having another rap session! We will talk about the trials and tribulations of hearing loss and offer tips on how to cope. We will also be discussing registering for the upcoming Walk4Hearing on June 8th in Long Beach and ways to help raise $$$ for our very worthy organization! Saturday, February 23rd Chapter Meeting Love Is In The Air! Back by popular demand, and in honor of Valentine’s Day, we are hosting our annual relationship panel and interactive session! We will talk about the good and the bad when it comes to communicating with a loved one who has hearing loss. Where: Grace Tiessen’s home in Pasadena. Address provided upon RSVP. Why: We’re the party chapter! Hello, fellow chapter members and friends! ’Tis the season for our HLAA-LA fun-filled holiday party! Thank you so much to our amazing Grace for hosting once again. You won’t want to miss the fun and a chance to catch up with friends. A) To make all of our lives a little easier, we are catering the party. We need a head count ASAP. B) We will provide nonalcoholic drinks. Feel free to BYOB. (Yes, please!) C) Feel free to bring an appetizer or dessert but no pressure, especially because last year we had enough pie left over to start our own bakery. If you are bringing something, include it when you RSVP. D) We really need your help! Are you willing to come early, around 6-ish, or stay after to help clean up? Please let us know when you RSVP, if you can help out before or after the festivities. E) White Elephant Gift Exchange. Secret Santa will be handing out the gifts. If you want to participate just bring a wrapped gift, valued at $10-$25. Anything new or used, cool, funny, weird or awesome - it’s up to you! We will explain the game in person. Remember: STEALING OF GIFTS IS ENCOURAGED. You don’t want to pass on the gift exchange! It’s one of the hilarious highlights! Hello, hungry people! Our annual Coping with the Holidays rap session and fantabulous Thanksgiving potluck brunch is coming up in less than 48 hours, on Saturday, November 3. Who's ready to share and nosh? So far, we have a short list of goodies for the potluck. We can definitely use more, because you know how we love to party with food.
