History For Hire owners, Jim (69) and Pam (67) Elyea received their second Moderna vaccine this week . Actor & activist Sean Penn's organization, CORE: Community Organized Relief Effort, was there helping to dispense vaccines. We had the pleasure of working on Penn's Film MILK (2008). Jim and Pam are wearing WW2 era Victory pins to show their support for our country in the war against Covid-19.

Publisher and provocateur, Larry Flynt passed away last week. History For Hire's president Jim was a courtroom artist for ABC and covered Flynt's 1983 obscenity trial in Los Angeles. Jim remembers the judge ordering Flynt to pay a fine, which he did in pennies. The judge told Flynt he had to use currency, so Flynt paid in wadded up $1 bills. We worked with set decorators Maria Nay and Amy Wells on The People Vs. Larry Flynt (1996).

This week History For Hire celebrates African American musicians with three excellent biography movies. Congratulations to the art department on Ma Rainey's Black Bottom for their 2021 Critics' Choice Movie Award nomination for Best Production Design. Genius: Aretha broadcasts March 21-24 on NatGeo/Hulu. Get On Up showcases the stellar performance by Chadwick Boseman, who's talent was too big for our world.

We've spent the day going through our projector lamp collection. With over 140 motion picture (8mm-35mm), slide, and overhead projectors in our rental stock, you can never have too many bulbs....or can one?

Nothing says Halloween is here like a run on skeletons at the prop house!
