We cannot wait to share with you screenshots of the 2020 Science Fair and the 2020 Halloween celebrations but you will have to wait as we have been swamped with so many activities lately. We have also been busy with our weekly Zoom backgammon and poetry nights with Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Patrick Stewart. Thursday Night is not for football (so says the NFL) but is for poker with Dame Helen Mirren, Dame Judi Dench and Oprah (Oprah is one wicked poker player!) Wednesday eveni...ngs are spent running over lines of dialogue with Tom Cruise for :Mission: Impossible" parts 7 and 8 (that guy is an amazing storyteller). Keanu Reeves would often invite us to join him on Zoom for some jam sessions. Did you know he was the bass player for the band Dogstar? We have also been going on virtual rides with Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton. He usually livestreams his practice runs on Zoom. We went on a ride with him on a training run last Friday at the Emilia Romagna GP in Imola, Italy. Whew. Even though it was virtual, we can feel the force of 5 G's as he fires away on his Mercedes-AMG W11 EQ Formula 1 car at speeds of 200+ mph! We have also been so busy with grading, lesson planning, preparing for the Halloween celebrations, prepping for the election debates and that is just to name a few. Ah, the glamorous lives of teachers. More to come.

Congratulations to all of our 7th and 8th grade election debate participants! That was such a wonderful, well-planned, researched and friendly debate the students showcased to the Hilldale School family. Kudos to all of you for your hard work! They expertly detailed their points and they answered the questions their younger schoolmates posed with poise and aplomb. We are so proud of all you did. You make us proud! Hilldale School would like to give a shoutout to Ms. Marina in kindergarten for all her hard work and for being such an awesome and amazing teacher. Way to go, Ms. Marina! Even though Ms. Marina is all the way up in Marin County, she never fails to connect, teach, reach out and inspire the youngest members of our school family. Our kids are wishing every day was Halloween. Our current circumstances have forced us to cancel the main celebrations this year but we will always look back with much happiness and joy at these archived photos. We always have two celebrations: one is the Family Association-sponsored Halloween carnival, which is always a well-planned, well-choreographed and highly successful and fun-filled event the Saturday before Halloween, and our Halloween celebration, which we celebrate with the entire school and in our respective classrooms. We ventured deep in the Hilldale catacombs to unearth more gems. Wait, you didn’t know there are catacombs beneath the playground? And now you know.
