Hello HLA Families, TOMORROW, Thursday from 5:30 PM-6:30 PM HLA will host a Virtual Open House for our 2020-2021 families. This will be live-streamed (and recorded) on our Higher Learning Academy Facebook page. We will provide up-to-date COVID19 information, explain why we are starting the school year in a virtual learning format, and provide details about how we will start the school year. We hope to "see" you there tomorrow night and hope we can answer all your questions. ...Our purpose for this event is to create a TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More) with you so we can look back on this school yer and know we did great work, and did our absolute best considering the current circumstances. More information is below: WHEN: Thursday, July 30th from 5:30-6:30 PM WHERE: Facebook Live (Higher Learning Academy; @HigherLearningAcademyCharter) WHO/WHAT: Deputy Superintendent Mr. Jason Sample, GCC Board Member Mr. Harry Block, Principal Ms. Marston, and Vice Principal Mr. Coonan will provide COVID-19 updates, discuss 2020-2021 school year at HLA and answer parent/family questions. **This meeting will be recorded and posted on our Facebook page (Higher Learning Academy; @HigherLearningAcademyCharter) as well as on our HLA Website (https://hlacharter.org) if you cannot attend the live event.

Here is an updated 2020-2021 School Calendar. Please note the changes: our last day of school is Thursday, May 27th and Memorial Day is the 31st of May not the 24th.

HLA is excited for this new school year and ready to tackle virtual learning with both you and your scholar. More information will be coming soon about what this will look like at HLA and you will be getting a phone call from your child’s teacher the first weeks of August. Thank you for your support and all you do for HLA. We will make this year a successful year together!

Hello HLA Families, HLA is in need of 20 more students for next school year. We currently have: 7 kindergarten spots; 4 second grade spots; 3 fourth grade spots; 3 fifth grade spots; and 4 eighth grade spots. HLA needs your help to recruit great scholars for next school year. If your family is able to help HLA enroll a scholar, and he/she attends HLA in the Fall, a child from your family will receive "Lunch with the Principal" as a thank you.... This incentive starts today, June 22nd, 2020 and ends on July 10th, 2020. Parents will need to complete the 2020-2021 enrollment card (found here: https://www.hlacharter.org/enroll-now), show us a birth certificate, proof of residence (utility bill), and immunization records. These four items are all we need to enroll a scholar. Please have the family email me this documentation at [email protected] or text me a picture of the documents at (916) 805-6247. Please have the family you refer to HLA let us know you referred them to us on their enrollment card. You will get a phone call from me confirming we enrolled the family and next steps. HLA will be successful because we work together as a community and a TEAM. We need your help to ensure we have a strong community and parent referrals are the most effective way to do this. When asked what was the best part about going to HLA all these years, they both said the people, meaning HLA’s unique and wonderful community (students, staff, parents) and the friendships they’ve built.
