Happy Birthday U.S. Army & Flag Day! The United States Army was founded on 14 June 1775 when the Continental Congress authorized enlistment of riflemen to serve... the United Colonies for one year. Celebrated on an annual basis, the Army, soldiers, veterans and their families acknowledge the paramount contributions of its members. 14 June is also the day we commemorate the adoption of the United States Flag by resolution of the 2nd Continental Congress, in 1777. Above the Best, Jeff Schloesser Major General, U.S. Army, Retired President "Supporting the U.S. Army Aviation Soldier & Family"

Happy 77th Birthday to Organic Army Aviation! On June 6, 1942, the War Department approved the assignment of two Cub aircraft to each field artillery battalion,... flown and maintained by Field Artillery personnel and completely separate from the Army Air Forces. Designed to supplement the existing system of air support, this organic Army Aviation was to provide air observation means for the adjustment of artillery fire thereby accomplishing the same mission that began with the Balloon Corps during the Civil War in 1861. From this relatively simple beginning, Army Aviation has grown into a complex and indispensable maneuver element for the Ground Commander, and the possibilities for the future are limitless. Congratulations and Happy Birthday to Army Aviation!
