There are some styles of pushing hands skills, such as Wanhua, Dantui(push with one hand), Sizhengshou(push with two hands); Dalu etc. Also divided into #Movingstep(huobu) or #Fixed step(Dingbu)... The Man who brought Tai Chi to the West Cheng Man Ch’ing (The Professor) is considered to be one of the greatest Tai Chi masters of modern times. He was a pione...er, instrumental in bringing Tai Chi and Chinese philosophy to the West. He was unique not only as a remarkable martial artist but also as a doctor of Chinese medicine, a scholar, painter and a poet. Cheng moved with his family to the United States in 1964 to begin his mission of bringing Tai Chi to the West. Despite being ostracized and condemned by most of the Chinese community for teaching Westerners Chinese 'secrets'...Cheng persisted and established a school where he taught all races and nationalities, men and women. Cheng stated that traditional Chinese Tai Chi had become too long and complexdistilling it to its essence Cheng also revolutionized the formreducing it from 108 to 37 postures (shortening it from half an hour to less than 10 minutes) calling his form Yang-style Tai Chi in 37 posturesmaking it more accessible to the modern world. Cheng Man Ch’ing sought to live as a true human beingwho overcame cultural divides to bring Tai Chi to the modern world, teaching Westerners how to seek an ethical, open-minded, joyful way of life This video is old and rare footage of Cheng demonstrating his Yang-style Tai Chi in 37 postures

THIS IS KATA, NOT EXCLUSIVE OF KARATE, But Most Important of All is learning of All Principles, Incorporating all Principles into Your Combat Training, and Ensu...ring Each and ALL Principles are INCORPORATED INTO THE COMBAT EXECUTION **WHICH PRINCIPLE DO YOU SEE AND FEEL IS THE MOST IMPORTANT? PLEASE EXPLAIN BRIEFLY *** I add my answer later. When Applied to Combat Training (Karate, Boxing or Grappling) this WorKS All The Same. When Training karate Kata/ Shadow Boxing/ Heavy bag work/ Agility or Double End bag. It is important to Incorporate All the Principles and then Randomly Mix then to keep the Opponents Guessing and most often Guessing Wrong.

Okinawan Karate kata feature mostly low level kicks, in addition to implied kicks with stepping. The kicks work in conjunction with the hand movements to form t...he 'technique.' Kicks may be delivered before the hands or after the hands, either way they are complicit in bringing the opponent into the strike, lock, or throw through 'kuzushi' (unbalancing/destabalizing). These are dangerous techniques to practice with a partner and should only be attempted under the supervision of a knowledeable instructor. See more

#shotokan #karatedo # #karate #mokuso #clubdekaratedojotora

I am sure a lot of people here can relate to these words. "Qigong is not a question of faith. I don't practice Qigong because someone told me it's good. I practice because I can feel the benefits."

Osu! I’d like to thank everyone who attended the first belt exam of 2020. It was a good test, but ....... A student taking his first black belt test didn’t achieve it. When a student fails, it’s always difficult. Let me re-phrase that. When a student doesn’t pass, I, as the teacher, as the sensei, feel that the truth is, I failed. The black belt test is a landmark test. Of course, all tests are, but the black belt test is obviously, one of, if not the most important test taken in our martial studies. If we make it to shodan, first degree black belt, It doesn’t mean one is a teacher. It means that that person possesses a solid foundation on which to build. In other words, the real training has just begun. Not passing our test is by no means a reflection of an individual as a human being, but only brings out what we may be lacking in our pursuit of the martial way. It may be technique. It may be form or kata, but it is always, no matter what level the practitioner is, about spirit, commitment and determination. If those things aren’t there, if the bushid spirit fails us, then we are lost and we can’t succeed. As I usually say, win or lose doesn’t matter. Weak or strong, doesn’t matter, but our martial spirit, our willingness to keep trying in the face of whatever it is that’s holding us back, is of the utmost importance. Without it ..... Congratulations to everyone who achieved their new ranks and heartfelt sympathy for those who didn’t. Now is the time to start preparing for the March exam!!!!! Thank you to all who showed up to help. Your assistance is priceless to me. Thank you to all the parents who came to support their children. Your involvement in what they’re doing is more than meaningful, not only to me, but to your children. Shin nen akemashite omedetou gozaimashita! Kotoshi mo yoroshiku onegashimasu! Happy new year! If you want to be skilled at karate, do what skilled karate people do: train each day! If you get into the habit of daily training, you will surprise yourself ...with how much progress you can make. . Tatsuya Naka 7th dan Shotokan JKA Instructor . I often get asked how can I improve my karate? The answer is very simple. Practice. . Set yourself the goal of practicing karate every day. Every day? Wait that’s a lot! I don’t mean a hard-core, karate workout (as we have in class at the Shuri Dojo) every day, but rather that you set aside some time, perhaps as little as a few minutes, to practice karate every day. . Set aside some time, just a few minutes, to practice karate every day. Perhaps you can go for a run or walk, or stretch for ten to fifteen minutes. Lift some weights, to strengthen muscles that are specifically used in karate. Maybe you can practice a kata a few times. Do you have another student with whom you can practice some flow drills, ground fighting, or other two-person techniques with? Perhaps spend a few minutes reading about martial arts history or philosophy. All of those are good options that don’t take a lot of time and, applied consistently, will greatly improve your karate. . If you spend an extra 15 minutes every day practicing karate, over a year you will have practiced over 90 extra training hours! Training a little every day also helps reinforce the concepts taught at the dojo each week, and will make you better prepared for the next class. . Do you practice everyday? I do. . We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. Aristotle. . . #karate See more

Osu!! I hope you’ve all training and practicing. I hope this finds you all well. Thanks for taking the time to read this. The belt test is this Saturday, the 20th at the Glendale YMCA!!!... The turnout for the workshop was not good, which kind of tells me that those not in attendance believe their kata is fine. No one’s kata is fine, including mine!! I’m the teacher, however, so my not fine is a little different. Our rule is that brown and black belts are supposed to be at ALL events, especially seminars and tests. It’s summer. Many are on vacation, but we only have tests and seminars in the odd-numbered months. So it’s not like there are constantly events you must attend. If you’ve discontinued your training, that’s different and you should tell your sensei as soon as possible and not leave him wondering. It’s manners! It only takes a few moments to communicate. The dojo closing was a big deal, but the club is still alive. Is your karate?. The test will go quickly, I believe. It will be kind of small. Plus, we have to be completely out of the room by 11:30. Times are 9am - 10am - beginner/ intermediate. 10:15 - 11:30 intermediate/advanced. The fees are as usual. Minasan ganbatte! Osu! Everyone do your best. Sam
