Produce recovery update: We continue to rescue produce from our local farm and packing house partners, and the need for this produce and other healthy foods is critical in our communities, so there is no trouble getting it to the agencies and food pantries who are on the front lines for distribution. However, our Senior Market schedule is still on hold, until we can get all the pieces together to serve our vulnerable communities safely while also keeping our tiny staff safe a...s well. We will continue to post updates here and on our website as we have news to post. We miss seeing our volunteers and clients, but wish you all the best until we do see you again!

There will be NO Senior Market events in April. To be clear, the next scheduled dates were April 20, 21 & 22 and they have been cancelled. The photos below are from early morning on Tuesday, where we distributed 3,800 pounds of fantastic organic produce we rescued from Cal Organic Farms in Thermal. This was part of a 21,000 pound organic load we picked up on Monday. The distribution was at FISH Food Bank in Coachella, using a drive-through method. The cars (over 300 between 7:30am and about 1pm) lined up and inched forward to the corner where we had the produce unpacked from their cases. We brought boxes to put it in, the drivers pulled through and popped their trunk, in went the produce and nonperishables that FISH had on hand to give away, and off they went. Our staff, with gloves and masks, were assisted by some of the volunteers from FISH.

From the Good News Department: Meet Debbie Abrams and Janet Oseth who came to see us at HH from Indio Springs RV Resort with cash in hand! They held a benefit event at the resort with entertainment by the musical duo Good Enough for Dad. Debbie is holding the proceeds - more than $450 dollars!! We THANK YOU Indio Springs, Debbie, Janet and Good Enough for Dad. This is a beautiful gift and a beautiful gesture. ... We love new friends!
