Our Honor Choir provides the preparation necessary for students who wish to move beyond the local school setting and into the community. Many have found a place with Opera Modesto. Their production of an Aesop's Fable Mash-Up, "The Race", opens on April 9, with 9 of 19 student performers being either alumni or current HCS students, including director, Carolina Stevens. Even a pandemic could not stop our dedicated students, parents and teachers who come together each year in support of Science Olympiad. Eleven of our students rose to the challenge and competed in 2021's Regional Science Olympiad in an online format on March 6th. The collective medals won by the students propelled them to another 1st place finish in our region, earning them the privilege to compete in the virtual California State Championship on April 17th.

In order to graduate from Hickman Charter, our 8th graders have to meet several requirements, one of which is a community service project. Recently, our 8th graders participated in a virtual Community Service Expo where they shared their projects with class members, family and friends. Beneficiaries of their service included family members, local houses of worship, city properties and businesses, our own music program, neighbors, local nonprofit agencies and even children in foreign countries!
