We work with some of the most outstanding dentists in our area and we like to treat them occasionally. Oriana who has been home with her daughter during the last few months delivered Blaqqat Focaccia bread and banana nut bread to our top thirty referring doctors. We have rave reviews from the doctors and their staff and we already know how good these baked goods straight from the heart are, so if you haven’t tried them yet, contact Gilbert at Blaqqat Baked Goods!

We completed an esthetic crown lengthening procedure to help our patient’s smile improve. He was so happy and grateful he brought us these adorable and delicious cupcakes. We are so thankful to be able to treat such amazing individuals!

We stand with our brothers and sisters of color and live by ‘do unto others as you would have them do unto you’. We are praying for a peaceful path forward to change.

Our team is fortunate to have two perio hygienists who have decades of experience between them. Working as a hygienist in a practice that only treats patients with periodontal disease is a challenge. The cases are difficult and it requires skills that these two have dedicated years to mastering. Lolly sees patients in our office 5 days a week and Cindy is with us every other Friday. You will find they are both technically excellent, passionate about their profession and lov...e our patients. They possess a wealth of knowledge about dental hygiene, periodontal disease and how to live a healthy lifestyle. Please join me in thanking Lolly and Cindy for their hard work and dedication!

Our team’s main goal in re-opening our office is to ensure the safety of both our staff and patients, while continuing to provide the highest level of care. This week we have started training on all of the new protocols we will be putting in place in order to attain this goal. We know this is a scary time for everyone and we want to assure you we are doing everything possible to keep you safe and healthy as we start our transition back to an open office. Please feel free to call us with any of your questions or concerns!

From all of us at Dr. Herrera’s periodontal office, Happy Mother’s Day! We may be a day late, but we know that mothers should be celebrated every day. We hope that everyone is staying safe and taking care of themselves during these unprecedented times. Thank you to all of the moms out there!

Vitamin D and the anti-viral state Jeremy A. Beard,b Allison Bearden,a,b and Rob Strikera,b,* Author information Copyright and License information Disclaimer The publisher's final edited version of this article is available at J Clin Virol See other articles in PMC that cite the published article.... Go to: Abstract Vitamin D has long been recognized as essential to the skeletal system. Newer evidence suggests that it also plays a major role regulating the immune system, perhaps including immune responses to viral infection. Interventional and observational epidemiological studies provide evidence that vitamin D deficiency may confer increased risk of influenza and respiratory tract infection. Vitamin D deficiency is also prevalent among patients with HIV infection. Cell culture experiments support the thesis that vitamin D has direct anti-viral effects particularly against enveloped viruses. Though vitamin D’s anti-viral mechanism has not been fully established, it may be linked to vitamin D’s ability to up-regulate the anti-microbial peptides LL-37 and human beta defensin 2. Additional studies are necessary to fully elucidate the efficacy and mechanism of vitamin D as an anti-viral agent. See more

Originally we had planned to take Dr. Herrera out for her birthday, but since the shelter in place is in order, we had to get a little creative
