We are looking to start a memory care campaign to showcase the resources we know of which can help seniors/ families learn about the free, low cost and/or insurance paid resources. ... If you know of anyone who has Durable Medical Equipment that they're no longer needing, please encourage them to donate to Helping Hands.... I've also used their home Covid testing program with success. The turnaround is a bit slow but works and they follow-up for re-testing. They will accept MediCare recipients who are not yet seniors which is very helpful for Adults with Serious Mental Illness who reside in their own home." Laura Rathbone, Safe Parking Coordinator at North Valley Caring Services reached out to Helping Hands Senior Foundation Monday morning, and we were able to provide a wheelchair that afternoon. Laura and her team helped Rafael get connected with his family back in Manila after being homeless for some time. He developed arthritis in his knee and could barely walk. After reaching out to various organizations, Laura found Helping Hands and we were able to provide the wheelchair... that same day. We are very happy to have been able to assist and make his trip more enjoyable and comfortable with the help of a wheelchair. "He was using a chair as a walker when I last saw him. This wheelchair will make it possible for him to navigate the airport as well as allow his knee to heal while he lives in the Philippines. I cannot thank you enough for assisting us with this wheelchair the same day we needed it.
