SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT Pacific Islanders at Cal (PAC) and the Pacific Islander Initiative at UC Berkeley are excited to offer our 2021 OMAOCH Conference! This year’s theme: For the Love of the Bay. Flow with us virtually, every Friday from April 9th - April 30th from 4-7pm. Connect with other Pasifika students, organizers, and artists; (re)learn tools of resistance and resilience through storytelling, wellness + healing, art, and education; hear about resources offered on ...campus and in the community, and much more! This conference is geared towards high school and college students. All Pasifika community members are welcome to attend. The first 40 students to register + attend at least one day of the conference will receive an item from one of our featured Bay Area pasifika businesses! About OMOACH: Omaoch (oh-mah-oh!): "to flow" specifically in reference to a river and/or blood in the Belauan language. OMAOCH Conference is an inaugural program that is being created by current UC Berkeley students who grew up in the Bay Area, attended its public schools, and experienced first hand the love, the challenges, and the needs of our communities here. We centered these experiences in deciding on this year’s theme: For the Love of the Bay. This conference was inspired by our love of PI communities and the stories of youth conferences in the past led by PI student leadership on our campus and on many other campuses who strive to better serve our Pasifika villages. We hope to organize a conference that is similar to those of the past, and that also helps meet the needs that have emerged recently. With that, because of COVID-19, this event will be virtual.
