Harvest Evangelical Church of San Diego 12.11.2020

Hi church family, In the midst of changing and challenging times, it can be difficult to stay focused, be productive, or think outside of ourselves. As we all adjust to a new way of life, I want to encourage you to consider what it looks like to be a disciple of Christ during this time. How can we be salt and light in our communities? How can we sacrificially love others in need with our time, energy and resources? How can we reflect the apostle John's words in 1 John 3:16-1...8 to love through action and lay our lives down for others? Edit: Please see the recent stay at home order - "https://www.foxnews.com//california-gov-gavin-newsom-annou" and act accordingly! Here are a few suggestions: Offer your time and energy to pick up food or supplies for people in your neighborhood who can’t get around as easily (see attached letter for as an example). A Facebook group called "San Diego Community Volunteers for Coronavirus Response" is a good resource to get connected. Donate blood at a blood drive or local blood banks. Contact your local nursing home or elderly care center to see if you can write letters to seniors who are isolated; maybe you can establish a pen pal relationship! You can do this as (virtual) group activity with friends if you’re unsure about what to write. Certain orgs are making check-in phone calls to seniors - email [email protected] for more info. If financially feasible, consider donating to your local food banks, volunteer organizations, foster care orgs, etc. Consider how to reach those who are in need and are in more difficult situations than we are; let’s be showing the love of God to those around us difficult times are the best times to sacrifice for others! We also highly encourage you to pursue spiritual growth and practice spiritual disciplines during this period of time. As we continue to grow in our relationship with God, we will naturally grow in love for others. Check out CE slides online for more resources, and join us this Sunday as we resume CE over Zoom! Lastly, we want to reiterate that we should continue to strictly follow county and national guidelines for social distancing, quarantine, and hygiene.

Edit: due to the developing nature of the coronavirus situation, KTT has been cancelled. We encourage you to continue to share and pray with one another for each other, and for the current world situation!

We're coming up on the deadline to turn in our Missions Movement 2020 forms this coming Sunday! If you haven't gotten one yet, feel free to grab one from the back of the chapel or print your own. As a reminder, Missions Movement 2020 is a concerted, whole-church effort to get directly involved with missions and outreach! In these last few days, I challenge to you to prayerfully consider how you can get involved in sharing the Gospel to our local communities and around the wor...ld The form asks you to commit a certain amount of time, finances, or prayer in 2020. My suggestion is to commit to put aside 5 days of PTO if you're working, which would allow you to get involved in a lot of different ways. When we plan ahead, we can better prioritize! Of course, everyone is able to participate in different ways - what we really want is for our whole congregation to be involved in some way. Hope that you're able to join us :) You can email Jon Chan your form or turn it in this Sunday! 2020 Outreach opportunities: https://tinyurl.com/2020OutreachFlyer MM2020 Form: https://tinyurl.com/HarvestMM2020

We're excited to announce the Spring/Summer CE series and our next preaching series, both starting this coming Sunday and we hope you can join us! Gospel of John Sermon Series: "So That You May Believe" As John 20:31 says, the Gospel of John is written so that we may believe in Him, the Son of God. Although this series is not an exhaustive exegetic study through every verse of John, it aims to cover the aspects of Jesus's ministry that John highlights. The passage selection a...ims to be on the broader side so that speakers can choose which parts of the passage to highlight and cover. The goal is for us to better know the person of Jesus Christ and the purpose of his time on Earth. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality CE Series: Join us as we explore how emotional maturity is intimately tied into our spiritual maturity. Based on Emotionally Healthy Spirituality and its’ corresponding workbook by Peter and Geri Scazerro, we will study biblical principles of healthy emotions and how God designed life for believers. This time also includes space to self-reflect, share and grow with one another through discussion and prayer.
