Spring has arrived @sias.garden We are so grateful for the opportunity to be nestled in our treehouse, witnessing the rhythms of Mother Nature in our first spring in the canyon. Bunnies started appearing yesterday, our cherry blossoms have arrived and my first vegetable seedlings have found their way up through the soil. Bees are swarming in to drink the nectar of morning blooms and hummingbirds playfully rise and dive through the oaks to alight on flowering snapdragons.... Our chicks will begin laying their first eggs soon, baby bunnies will appear and our plants will bear fruit. This week a friend complimented the color of my jacket, and suddenly I fell into a time warp : for what felt like several minutes (though was only seconds, I’m sure), I became lost in thought. Time stood still. I was back in January 2020, preparing for what - I didn’t know at the time - would be my last visit with my grandpa. Rain was forecasted in Tacoma for that weekend and having lived in LA for so long I had purged anything with a hood. So I found the perfect pretty thing... to keep me dry and warm. I wore this jacket the last time I hugged my papa. I looked into his eyes and somehow I knew it would be the last time. So I hugged him again and held on tight. I can still hear his voice saying I love you. Grief is funny like this. One moment you’re feeling okay, just wearing an orange jacket, and the next moment boom! you’re traveling back in time, frozen in a way, and boom! back to the present again. I’m grateful for the time travel, it’s one way to be with my papa in someway. And I’m thankful for the yoga that brings me back to here and now, to get back into my body when my heart is hurting so badly, to remember that he is not in the past (though my memories are) : rather, he is here, now, in a new way, in soul form rather than embodied and as his form has changed, the way I relate to him must change, too.
