We're a SPEECH and debate team! On February 7, the Individual Events team competed at the San Diego State University’s Aztec online tournament. Robert Montgomery received 3rd place in his Open Persuasive speech and it earned a full qualification. The Individual Events team attended the Virtual Valentine Tournament on February 19, 2021. The following students placed: ... o Robert Montgomery: 3rd Place in Open Program of Oral Interpretation (receiving a NFA Qualification and 6th Place in Open Impromptu o Isaac Mercado: 5th Place in Open Informative Speaking The Individual Events team attended a two-day swing tournament, the Purrfect Pals, on February 20 and 21, 2021. The following students placed: o Day 1 Matthew Alingog: 5th Place in Open Persuasive Speaking and 5th Place in Open Impromptu Robert Montgomery: 5th Place in Open Program of Oral Interpretation o Day 2 Robert Montgomery: 4th Place in Open Program of Oral Interpretation Cameron Conner: 3rd Place in Open of Oral Interpretation (receiving a NFA qualification)

After day 1 of the CEDA national debate tournament, Jared Burke and Vontrez White are 3-0. Congrats also to Rosas & Hernandez, Perez & Dewhurst, Loayza & Meza and Iabayan & Guerrro who are all out representing...5 prelims left, then the single-elimination tournament starts! DEBATE TEAM THRIVES AT THE WEBER ROUND ROBIN! The varsity debate team of Jared Burke and Vontrez White competed in the Val Browning Round Robin this weekend. Round Robins are invitation only so it is an honor to just be invited. Our students rocked the house and have exploded onto the national scene as one of the teams to beat. They were 5-2 at the end of the tournament making them the 2nd place team. In addition Vontrez White was top speaker at the tournament. The team is ecstatic. Jared and Vontrez have worked incredibly hard since my arrival last year to strengthen their abilities, we work hours beyond class time every week trying to learn from our losses and tighten up our arguments.

Fullerton debate team beats Harvard! At the season opener at Northwestern, the Titan team of Jared Burke & Vontrez White beat the hybrid team from Harvard and Amherst College. They finished the tournament in the top half of the 126-team field at the season opener hosted by Northwestern University in Chicago. Next up: The JV team starts the year at Binghamton, NY.
