Several local safety improvement projects were awarded funding by Caltrans. Congratulations to the City of Eureka on the successful funding for the Sixth and Seventh street corridor improvements project and the H and I Corridor Buffered Bike lanes project. The City of Trinidad will also be seeing some road safety improvements, as will McKinleyville with flashing beacons to be installed where the Hammond Trail crosses Hiller Avenue. Roadways should be safe for all people, and HCAOG is pleased to see these improvements across the region. #VisionZero

The vision of a future Great Redwood Trail just reached a milestone. The report to the State Legislature was just released. The report, "Assessment of the North Coast Railroad Authority & Viability of a Great Redwood Trail," available at https://bit.ly/GreatRedwoodTrailReport, provides information necessary to determine the most appropriate way to dissolve NCRA and assesses the viability of constructing the Great Redwood Trail, converting 300 miles of defunct railway into a trail stretching from Humboldt Bay to San Francisco Bay. This report was required by SB 1029, Senator McGuire's NCRA Closure and Transition to Trails Act of 2018.

This is a great opportunity to identify highway spots where you feel are unsafe or where traffic is just too fast. To take the survey, please visit https://survey.catplan.org/
