Quick tip: When shopping around for smog checks, beware of $29.99 or lower signs/advertisements. They usually DO NOT include everything you need. Certificate, transfer fees, test only/gold shield directed, evap test, taxes, free retests etc. Ask for the "out-the-door" price for your specific year, make and model. Price varies for different vehicles.

Quick tip: Califonia state law requires the seller of a used vehicle to do a smog check for transfer of ownership. It must pass before selling unless stated otherwise in the bill of sale.
