Emotional Intelligence an important ingredient in all relationships.

Even for the best-prepared missionary living cross-culturally is a challenge. One is able to adapt fairly well from two weeks to six months. At this period, the new encounter of the amazing host culture is worn off. One needs some semblance of one's own culture. One begins to see the flaws and drawbacks of the amazing host culture. Survival mode kicks in. One becomes edgy and short-tempered. This will not last if one perseveres to the acceptance stage, but many times this is when missionaries give up. In our situation today, we are at the six-month milestone. Do not give up! Reach out, there are people that will stand by you and help you persevere. The new cultural norm is coming.

As you partake of communion today do it in an alert manner acknowledging Jesus' sacrifice for your sins.
