What is special about Harmony Speech Therapy? We go above and beyond for every one of our clients! In these photos, Taline helped this autistic young man to get a hair cut! To most getting a haircut is routine and no big deal! For our autistic friends simple hygiene tasks such as hair cutting, nail cutting and even showering can we challenging, traumatic and difficult. This can be due to sensory processing difficulties such as: the sound of the sheers or trimmer, the feel...ing of water on their face or even the idea of separating from their hair or nails! We believe in a multidisciplinary approach, and treat each case uniquely. Learning from our OT colleagues we apply sensory desensitization techniques as well as incorporate social stories to help our kiddos reach their goals!
