#BobcatFire containment more than doubled to 38%, reflecting days of strenuous fire line construction and mop up by fire crews working through difficult terrain... and conditions. As containment increases, fire managers can focus resources on active areas, including Mt. Wilson and Mt. Lewis. Firefighters successfully completed a critical strategic firing operation overnight, strengthening containment line connecting Mt. Wilson north to Highway 2. Crews, with support from aircraft making retardant and water drops, will build containment line today between Big Rock Creek Rd and Highway 2 to cut off the fire’s eastward spread. The center is doing alright. The fire was picking up on the backside of Mt Wilson and the West Fork last night. They had air and ground crews working and the conditions improved thru the night in our area. Active fire conditions continue in other areas.
