Fun Fact Friday! We have an eye for detail! Look closely....can you see it?! One of our technicians spotted this beauty in our clients garden. Did you know: Mantids can turn their heads a full 180 Degrees? No other insect can look over its shoulder at you when you try to sneak up on it.... A praying mantis has two large, compound eyes and a single ear, located on the underside of its belly, just forward of its hind legs. Although there is a native species in the US, you are most likely to find the Chinese and European mantids introduced over 80 years ago. And yesthe female will sometimes eat their mates. Hmmm, what's for dinner...

Fun Fact Friday! Did you know a cockroach is capable of living weeks without its head? There are several reasons why but one is how they breathe. In humans the brain controls how we breathe through our mouth or nose. The blood then carries oxygen throughout our bodies. Without our heads our breathing would stop. The Cockroach brain does not control its breathing nor does its blood carry oxygen throughout their bodies. They breathe through little holes in each body segment called spiracles. The spiracles pipe air directly to tissues. Don’t forget to breathe and don’t lose your head over roach issues!
