Do you remember what you were doing 19 years ago today? I sure do, I was getting ready for school when I turned to the TV and watched as the towers collapsed. Being at a younger age and listening to the new casters and their commendation it never being terrified in tears not knowing what this meant for our country. Let’s remember the bravery, courage and sacrificed of so so many. Today my thoughts and prayers go out to all who lost a loved one, may God grace you peace and wit...h the healing of your heart. #neverforget #fallenheroes #911 #twintowersnyc

Hi babes..... How often do you use online reviews, Yelp and social media to make decisions? In today’s digital world, all the above are very important to businesses like mine. That’s why I’m asking for a favor. Because social media and reviews are so crucial for users to ask for help on deciding all their beauty choices I have been focusing on increasing my Instagram presence.... If you do a quick google search for Roots & Mane, yelp review or even a repost or share on your personal page your 30 seconds of time will give me a lifetime of future business. Reviews, shares and reposts help my business build an online presence and helps others learn about my business and I. Thank you to all you babes for all your love and support. It has been my pleasure helping you with all your hair care needs, growing bonds and friendships is one of my favorite parts about this job. Anything I can do to return the favor I’m here for you! Product questions? Hair tutorials? New recipe? I got you

The most common statement I hear from clients when trying to grow their hair out.....I don’t want to cut it because I want it to grow Although sounding contradicting did you know that while growing your hair out regular trims are necessary to help keep your hair healthy of broken, damaged and split ends that may be causing breakage, splitting up your hair shaft preventing your hair to grow. So don’t fear the .....your results will be longer, fuller, healthier hair.... #healthyhair #hairgoals #haircuts #longhair

We are a industry lucky enough to love our jobs and want to go back to work! Today our voices were heard and we tried to be the change #weareessential #saferinside #saveoursalons

Hair by Monica 02.08.2020

So I did a thing today! Myself as well as other stylists and supporters took the streets to have our voices be heard in saving our salons. We as licensed cosmetologists are trained in taking all safety precautions in keeping your health and safety a priority. Aside from the medical field we are held to the highest standards in disinfection and sanitation so much we are required to take a written and physical exam to pass state board testing to receive a license. So tell me w...hy and how @gavinnewsom gets to decide that we are not essential and our salons are not SAFE enough to work from inside??? Are you even aware of the hours in training we have in disease control and sanitation to get our license? Why if my mask works....why can’t I? @gavinnewsom We need your help in spreading the word that we are essential, to re-open salons and let us go back to work! We want and need answers. Please feel free to repost and tag me to help spread awareness of our frustrations and help people who are losing their businesses and livelihoods. Thank you for all the love and support. Love all you babes @inevitablebusiness #wearethebeautyindustry #weareessential #saferinside #saveoursalons

Calling all hairstylists, nail technicians, lash artists, esthetician’s, tattoo artists and anyone interested in helping in this movement. My good friend @theholisticolorist and a team has put together this peaceful and safe protest so that our voices can be heard. We deserve better! All support is welcome. We did not spend money to go to school, get certified in disinfection and sanitation, to be told we can’t work when it matters and aren’t considered essential. Feel free to repost and share! #saveoursalons #saferinside

Did you know I went to school for 1600 hours? During that time I didn’t only learn how to do hair. Actually a lot of our time was spent on sanitation, disinfection and how to keep our environment safe for our client as well as ourselves. Before even learning about hair we learn about, biology, chemistry, anatomy, viruses, bacteria’s...the list goes on. We passed both a practical and written exam. Beauty school teaches you how to pass State board testing not how to do hair.... Learning beyond the basics comes through assistant programs when you start at a salon, education and experience. Our industry has ALWAYS followed safety sanitation and disinfecting guidelines way before Covid.....so tell me why we are not allowed to work? I’m literally trained to keep you safe and healthy. What other business are trained to do this or doing it at all the way we can???? So state board wants to fine us for having a hair in our brush? Wearing open toe shoes? Wearing a clip on my apron because it’s not sanitary.........but go ahead and do hair in the parking lot. They’re are to many reasons as to why this is so ridiculous! Liability of so many things that can go wrong just is not worth it. Thanks but no thanks on that. So disappointed in our state board for not having our backs in this. So really what was the point in being trained if when it matters we aren’t allowed to use our education? Ok I’m done. Sorry for the rant but it’s been a day. Thank you to all the amazing clients for your support and loyalty through this all. Love you babes
