Friday feature: Hackbright student Hannah Ramadan shares her path to programming, including the moment she gained the confidence to pursue software engineering: "I launched my career in marketing and have always worked for technology companies. Part of my job entailed working with engineering teams to highlight their work and impact. For five years, I crafted stories about how engineers used tech to improve people's lives. I thought engineers were so 'cool' in how they used t...heir intellect and skills to build so many of the great products and services the world knows today. Somewhere buried in my mind was the feeling that one day, I could do that too. Then about a year ago, an engineering manager said to me, "Anyone can learn how to code. What makes a great coder are things like creativity, a love of learning, and empathy." Those words made me realize how much more there is to being a software developer than I thought, and "they're so cool" suddenly became "why not me?" After taking a few online classes, I discovered Hackbright and felt their values aligned strongly with my own. I want to use what I learn at Hackbright to code for causes that better the world and how others experience itlike sustainability, women's advancement, or personal growth and development." #ChangeTheRatio #WomenWhoCode
