Today we're joined on site by AmeriCorps NCCC Pacific Region Team Green 4 for a day before they head to our neighbors in Stockton to help out at a food bank for their long-term project over the coming weeks! We're grateful for our partnership with AmeriCorps NCCC and the dedicated and passionate young leaders who give generously of their time and efforts to help transform our communities into a brighter place to call home! These crews have been a massive part of helping to keep our job sites on track while still unable to host community volunteers. #togetherwebuild

Habitat would like to wish a very happy birthday to our dear friend Beverly Lamb! For over 3 decades alongside her husband Ron, Beverly has been an amazing champion of Habitat and incredible supporter of our mission. Beverly is a wonderfully kind and compassionate individual, and we are so grateful to have her in our Habitat family. Thank you, Bev, for dedicating your birthday to Habitat with this Facebook birthday fundraiser and for all you do to help Habitat spread hope and build homes. Happy Birthday from Habitat!

Appreciation alert! Habitat would like to give a special shout out to Tom Quasebarth, a dedicated and fearless Habitat Crew Leader. Tom is an Outstanding Volunteer awardee from our recent Hammy Awards, but unfortunately his award was not presented during the live event due to a production glitch. Tom is a vital part of Habitat’s Construction team and unfailing in his efforts to support our mission through thick and thin, rain or shine! Tom played a huge role in helping us kee...p building last year, volunteering over 500 hours on the jobsite in 2020 alone. A truly generous soul, Tom also donates his talents for design work and conceptual planning, and even created a virtual walkthrough video of our 13-home Mandolin Estates development. Habitat is incredibly blessed by his support, and we are grateful for the hope and homes that Tom helps build, week after week. Here he is accepting his Hammy Award yesterday morning (hard at work on the Habitat jobsite, as usual!). Mask pulled down to capture a quick moment of Tom smiling with his award. Thank you, Tom!

Today’s Habitat Hero = INTEL!!! Our old server was crashing for MONTHS on a weekly basis. When we found out how much a new server would cost alongside our other tech needs, we weren’t sure how we were going to make it happen. As of this week, we now have a donated used server from Intel (which is higher quality than we could’ve dreamed). Words cannot express the cheers and gratitude from our team for this incredibly generous gift which will not only play a factor in helping keep us all a bit more sane, but will play a substantial impact in providing the tech power we need to keep building forward for those in need during this unique time and beyond. #community #gratitude #impact

Work continues on the first 3 homes of our Mandolin Estates project which will eventually provide affordable housing to 60 low-income individuals including 40 children. We are accepting pre-applications for working families interested in owning a Habitat home on this property, as well as looking for additional community partners to help us bring this project to fruition. #HabitatBuildsHope

As we continue to #BuildForward, progress is being made at our 34th Ave new home build! Today the driveway and porch concrete are being poured and drywall is almost ready for texture! It won’t be long before the Nasiri family makes their dream of homeownership come true and purchase this home for a 30 year, 0% interest equivalent mortgage. Thank you to our wonderful sponsors for helping us continue to bring affordable homeownership and pride to our communities SMUD U.S. Bank Big Day of Giving #HabitatBuildsHope

Today a new set of upcycled wheels arrived at the Habitat office thanks to our friends at SMUD who generously donated this used vehicle from their fleet to Habitat! We will now be using it to get build materials to and from the Habitat construction sites where we are building and repairing homes for working families, seniors, and veterans in our region. Homeowner Yuri is raising the roof in happiness as his home receives much needed repairs provided by our amazing partnership with SMUD and the help of our wonderful Crew Leaders like Jim! Yuri’s home will have a new roof, solar panels and a paint touch up. THIS SATURDAY ONLY from 10-1pm you can bring your political yard signs to the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento ReStore. Did you know political yard signs aren't recyclable? Tens of thousands of yard signs in Sacramento will end up in landfill. The Habitat ReStore is partnering with Atlas Disposal, Atrium, National Stewardship Action Council, and Gregg Fishman for Supervisor to up-cycle political yard signs by making them available to artists, art teachers and st...udents, crafters, hobbyists, and anyone who can put them to good use so they don't end up in landfill. Signs can be dropped off Saturday, November 7th from 10-1pm at the ReStore and picked-up Saturday, November 7th from 1-4:30pm. Thanks FOX40 for helping spread the word on this unique collaboration!

The first Mustang, a convertible model, was meant to be used exclusively for a dealership tour. However, the car was accidentally sold to a customer in Newfoundland. The customer was a pilot who drove it for 10,000 miles and eventually traded the car back to Ford. The company was able to preserve the model and it’s on display at the Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan. Love cars? See what donating one could do: https://bit.ly/35jq3Kn

If you've ever wondered how Habitat for Humanity was founded, this is a great read! On this date in 1942, Clarence Jordan founded Koinonia Farm on the outskirts of the rural South Georgia town of Americus. It was Koinonia’s roots of racial and economic equality that inspired Habitat's founder Millard Fuller and became the foundation of Habitat for Humanity’s mission.
