Since I use nails on my right hand to play fingerstyle, I can't do tapping because my nails get in the way. But I completely admire Steve Vai for the thought that he put into developing his tapping style and how incredibly well he does it!

A really cool little video of LA studio stud Ramon Stagnaro hanging out with an equally studlike Tim Pierce, dissecting approaches to guitar. It's worth watching just to appreciate Ramon's beautiful phrasing.

As you begin your study of modes for electric guitar soloing and improvisation, one of my all-time favorites is Mixo-lydian. Here's a good video to audibly taste the flavor of this amazing mode. This mode has a major 3rd but a flatted 7th. Enjoy!!
