How do you introduce Math to your 1-3 year olds? While many early math skills (like recognizing basic shapes and identifying numbers 1-10) are developed as children grow, it’s important to facilitate their learning in these areas to help them build strong foundations. Here are 3 fun ways you can easily introduce/practice Math with your kids:... 1.) Shape Hunt - Ask them to find different shapes they can see, be it at the supermarket or at the park. (Try starting with Squares, Triangles and Circles, and what makes these shapes [4 pointy sides, 3 sides, and no sides]!) 2.) Sing Along to Math - Nursery rhymes aren’t just for English, there are some for Math too! (Check out Five Little Ducks and 10 Green Bottles) 3.) Color Sorting - Collect objects in a box and ask them to sort the objects by their colors. This introduces them to the idea of Patterns. (Try using primary colors Red, Yellow and Blue to start with!) We hope this helps. If you have any questions, or decide to try the activities, let us know! We'd love to hear about it! If you’d like your kids to learn Math and Critical Thinking with us, we have regular classes for 2-12 year olds! Visit our website here: https://bit.ly/GrowingIQ-US

Like if you agree, and swipe to the next photo to see play in action! We couldn't find the original creator/photo of the Play Cartoon, but it was the perfect graphic we found that could illustrate the many ways play can help children learn and develop! We hope it's easy enough to read.

For kids (and even adults), "playing" is truly more than just having fun Similar to the way we utilize different learning styles, kids learn and develop crucial skills through play best - while being happily engaged! It is a powerful learning tool that stimulates many of children's senses. Playing-pretend for example helps children develop their creativity, imagination, consideration of other people's perspectives and even their launguage skills. Playing blocks like LEG...O inspires development in recognizing different sizes and shapes, putting things in a certain order and helps solidify children's understanding of "cause and effect". Do you feel stressed or nervous whenever you have to deal with Math? You may be experiencing Math Anxiety, and that's okay! Many people experience Math Anxiety, and it is more than just disliking Math: Nervousness is a reasonable reaction to any stressful event. People with Math Anxiety experience exactly these, even when posed with simple equations, like 70 x 4. So how can we help people with Math Anxiety? At Growing IQ, we do it through a #GROWTHMINDSET - that anything can be achievable or learned with enough practice and dedication! #mathclasses #mathlearning #mathisfun
