Merve from Democratic Republic of Congo [Below his English statement is Merve’s translation in French!] Studying abroad is what we all probably want, especially in the United States for its quality of education and amazing life opportunity. My name is Merve, and I moved from Congo to California to study Business Administration at Grossmont College. I was welcomed by the sweetest and most encouraging person I have ever met who helped me throughout... my program at ACE, an ESL program at Grossmont College. ACE helped me improve my academic English. Also, I met some wonderful classmates from different parts of the world such as China, Vietnam, Japan, and Korea and shared cultural experiences. With ACE classes such as Grammar, Vocabulary, Listening, and Career Path, and outstanding professors, the ACE program facilitated me to boost my confidence and enrich my vocabulary. Étudier à l'étranger est probablement ce dont nous souhaitons tous, en particulier aux États-Unis pour la qualité de son éducation et ses formidables opportunités de vie. Je m'appelle Merve et j'ai quitté le Congo pour la Californie pour étudier l'administration des affaires à Grossmont College. J'ai été accueilli par la plus gentille et encourageante personne qui m'a aidé tout au long de mon programme à ACE, un programme de langue à Grossmont College. ACE m'a aidé à améliorer mon anglais académique. J'ai également eu la chance de rencontrer des merveilleux camarades de classe de différentes parties du monde venant de la Chine, le Vietnam, le Japon et la Corée avec lesquels nous avons eu à partager des expériences culturelles. Avec son programme de cours tels que la grammaire, le vocabulaire, l'écoute et le cheminement de carrière, et des professeurs exceptionnels, le programme ACE m'a permis de renforcer ma confiance et d'enrichir mon vocabulaire.

Mehmet says: Grossmont’s American Collegiate English is one of the best English programs you can find in San Diego. If you want to attend college without going through TOEFL, the ACE English program is for you. My experience with ACE was amazing. Our teachers and Sandy are very professional, kind, friendly, and genuine people. The program itself made ...me want to learn more about English and USA culture. I am glad that I decided to take ACE classes and graduate from them successfully with my teachers’ help. In addition, there are free snacks, teas, and coffees in the Sandy’s office that will make you feel like you are at your home :) I am now in my third semester at Grossmont College, and I really love the school. Congratulations to Barbara Loveless, ACE Academic Coordinator since 2011. After teaching English for 34 years (2 in Japan, 13 in Hawaii, and 18 here in San Diego), Barbara is retiring today.
