Working with Gritty City Rep has been an amazing experience. It has taught me a lot of skills and values that I will use in the future. Writing my piece has definitely inspired me to continue writing in the future. The process was very exciting and informative and I was supported in times of need and encouraged to write the story I wanted to tell. Thanks to everyone in GCR who has helped me during this opportunity. See Keli’i Salvador’s GLASS CLOSET as part of our Youth Pla...ywright Showcase! 1/22 & 1/23 at 6pm. TJ LOVES SALLY 4 EVER by James Ijames TJ is a University Dean. He’s in love with Sally. Sally does not love TJ. Sally is a student. This will not be easy. ... There’s a marching band, several step shows and the dismantling of the legacies that keep us tied down. In short: imagine if Thomas Jefferson was a University Dean and Sally Hemings was his work-study student. Ensemble member Asia Jackson says of Black Salt, A beautiful examination of police brutality against black and Latino communities in Oakland and nationally. This is a show everyone should see! In 2018, Gritty City Rep produced The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare. Believed to have been written between 1590 and 1592, this adaptation with the GCR youth ensemble contemporised the work and makes it all so relevant to our times. "I was blown away. I’m stunned at how seamlessly the actors worked together, touched one another, laughed, cried, interacted without physical onstage interaction how did you all do that?
